Guys I really need your help

In the past week there was a person here who had the exact same problem as mine, but his problem got solved miraculously by no apparent cause,i ain't that lucky :-(..here iss the link

http://www.techenclave.com/operating-systems/my-pc-wont-boot-186178.html

My problem started a week and a half back, had my board exams the last week, so I aunty go meddling with the comp (partially hoped it would fix itself :-!)

Details of problem: the pc starts and gets stuck in thee bios screen and thee keyboard doesn't respond

Exact same pic in that thread, now am not near my pc, so will post the pic of my pc at a later time

I tried cleaning everything, from ram to hdd, checked the battery also, no effect...so today I took it to a technicians shop, they tried everything, tried a new psu, ram, hdd. They even reminders the mobo and cleaned the processor. After all that, they blamed it on the hdd in the end.they could not find the exact fault bit it doesn't seem to boot, they tried it on another pc also.they told I better take it to the warranty place and get myself a new hdd...

I don't believe it partially because I don't trust them completely (ppl can lie while watching a india-pak match:-P) but mostly coz I would hate to lose nearly 500 gb of data, all my photos, torrents, videos all down the drain :-(..

So could any of you suggest anything, am willing to try out anything (better be sensible:-))

And this hdd is a seagate barracuda 500 gigs 09 edition..its from abroad, will I get warranty?

My galaxy s has become my temporary pc for a While now

Try getting into the BIOS without the HDD plugged in. If it does happen, there's an error with the HDD. Then get a new one, install windows onto that, and then after boot, plug in your old HDD ( Sata is hot-swappable ), let it get detected. If it gets detected, you can repair the drive using the Windows tools. Else you have to resign yourself to the fact that the HDD may be dead.

Or you can try a Linux LiveCD like the Fedora or Ubuntu LiveCD to repair your drive.

Keep in mind that this is ONLY if your HDD is causing the problems.

PS. Please reset CMOS. Just in case.
