PC Not Shutting Down Completely

Hi Guys,
Before The Problem Started The PC Used To Completely Turn Off .
Power LED = Off
Processor Fan = Off
Cabinate Fan = Off (Connected to Power Supply)
SMPS = Off
Monitor = Off (Screen Used To Go Blank)

Now 2 days Ago I wanted to reapply thermal paste on my CPU (I Do It Every 6 months), So I Dissambled The Whole PC & also Cleaned the Cabinate As There was some dust, After i assembled everything back & booted the PC it showed me Bios Error message so i loaded the defaults & proceeded with my work .
Now The Problem!
When I Hit the Shutdown Button
Power LED = Off
Processor Fan = On
Cabinate Fan = On (Connected to Power Supply)
SMPS = On
Monitor = On (Screen Does Not Go Blank Some times Its Shows Blank Blue Screen Or Sometimes Just Weired Lines.)
I Have Checked All “Power Settings †In bios & Xp but they are the same as before.
I have removed the Battery loaded the defaults several times but dosent help.

y ?:S
there is need to do it.

thermal paste is not a vaccination that it needs booster shots every now and then.:rofl:

  • run checkdisk on your hard disks and fix errors if any.
  • try with a fresh install of windows (i have seen this problem whenever i mess up my registry bad) or simply a new userprofile.
  • Check in your power settings that your power button is configured to shut down and not suspend! In Vista the red button on the start menu suspends the computer and does not shut it down. You have to shut down using the turn off options :D

Tried It With Fresh Linux Mint Installation
I hit the Shutdown button it goes into shut down, the lights, and HD shuts down but the processor fan still runs.

I Dont think its an OS problem.

Should I Flash The MOBO???

Flashing not recommended unless the same problem existed ever since you got that board.

The exact same thing happened to my Old P3 machine once. Nothing helped Not even fromat>reinstall ....eventually the system stopped booting and I took the system to a local repair guy, he repaired the motherboard...some capacitors were replaced and the system was UP and running without any problems.
