PC Peripherals PC not working

I have a intel i5 quad core based machine. The other day i had taken up the cabinet for cleaning. After cleaning the pc did not start up. So got the SMPS checked from a local hardware shop and he told it is working fine. So i removed the power switch and jump started the PC with a tester. It started and their was no display and after sometime the pc stopped. So can someone help me with the problem.

Thanks.

Check to see if the RAM sticks are inserted correctly.

Clean the slots and conducting surfaces of the RAM and Graphics card slots and spray some WD 40 lubricating oil into the slots.

Thanks for the suggestion. My pc has started working but the thing is that my power switch of the cabinet has gone kaput. So i have connected the power pin to the reset pin on the motherboard and it works. Will doing such stuff cause any problem to the Motherboard or the pc.
