hey guys,
few months ago i decided to set up my very 1st htpc.as per the help given from here i went with the current rig -
zebronics fantasy cabinet,g41m combo,pentium dual core 2.83ghz proccy,ati 5450 gfx card,4 gig ram,1 tb hdd,cooler master 400 w psu[recently purchased].

my pc is getting randomly switched off due to over heating.this problem is surfacing since the last 1 month.previously i consulted one of my friend's and he said that it may be because i had a low power psu[i had a 230 v initially which came default with the cabinet].since than i got a cooler master 400 w 3 weeks ago and things were going fine until yesterday.but since then problems of overheating have started to resurface again.i have checked all my fans and all are working fine as well as the psu fan.basically the pc works for 20 odd minutes and it shuts down.i used a application named speedfan and it is showing temps in the region of 60 to 70 degrees.what should i do?

Can you cross reference the temperatures using CoreTemp and RealTemp. Those are not high enough to cause the issue.

^^ tried both applications but it seems my cpu is not supported. the temperature at the moment is 85 as checked on speedfan with only firefox running.

well try lavalys everest, and post all the temperatures for further analysis

Does it have any exhaust fans- installed?

Also check if all push-pins of the stock cooler are properly "clicked" into position.
yes mate thats the exact same cabinet i have.it has 2 side fans and one fan at the front.i also did check the push iins of the stock cooler and it is perfectly placed.

your cpu temps seems to be Ok but your gpu is some what, is these the idle temperature? try to maintain a good airflow inside the case, tie the cable, to increase air flow :)

hey mate the problem has resurfaced again.i will try to clean the inside of the cpu and will tell you guys whether it fixes the problem.thanks for helping.the cpu temperature i saw before it switched off was 74.

Can you use/fit/move one of the fans at the rear as exhaust and check if it helps lower temperatures?

p.s. Did you ever remove your CPU heatsink for cleaning?

If 'yes', did you clean the CPU IHS, base of CPU cooler and reapply fresh thermal paste before refitting?

If you have never removed your CPU heatsink, please check if it's choked with dust+fibres.

If 'yes', please removed motherboard from the case and dust everything with a soft brush and rubber blower and see if that helps.

Check ur ram using memtest 86. It doesnt seem to be a heating issue.
60-70 are not temps which will shutdown ur PC.
Also check whether the CPU HSF fan is working or not.

guys it seems there was a issue with the cpu fan only.i changed it to the default intel one i had got with my proccy[i was using coolermaster] and it seems the problem is solved.the pc has been on since 24 hours without any problems.thanks everyone for their inputs.
