I don't think that my psu could be the problem, because i've tried my friend's LG DVD writer on my comp and it is working fine. No restarting, no problem in functioning.

But strangely when I connect my Moserbaer DVD Drive it starts restarting. :(

I've tried changing my SATA ports as well but no change ,still restarting.

My specs are :

Coolermaster PSU 450W , AMD Athlon X2 3800+, ASUS A8N-VM, 2GB DDR RAM, 7600GT.

You have a good enough PSU for your rig
Since you tested with another DVD writer, which works fine, most probably the writer has gone kaput

Take it to the dealer immediately, he will replace it (since u bought only yesterday)
and get better ones like LG/Samsung, if u can

So this is the situation....

1- your dvd drive on ur comp - doesnt work

2- your dvd drive on other comp - works

3- other dvd drive on ur comp - works

4- psu - works

try this....

-reset the bios to factory defaults

-reset ram chips (i know the other dvd works)

Is your HDD - IDE / SATA ?

If HDD = SATA, connect your DVD in the slot where the hdd is connected. \

-Source out a IDE DVD drive from friend / neighbours and test that on your rig.

Try using a different connector pin from the PSU to the DVD. Looks like a power fault most probably.

Are you using the SATA power connection from your PSU or is it a Molex connection with a Molex to SATA converter cable?

If it is with the converter, make sure you are using the converter cable that must have come with the DVD drive.
