Hi --

Something weird just happened. Up until today morning, my PC was showing me in B'lore which is correct. But now, out of nowhere, I'm located in Hydrabad. How is this possible? Is this something that's gotta do with my IP address? If I google for where am I or check the weather, I'm in hydrabad! Something looks very fishy and I'm unable to figure out what.

Just wondering if my ISP has got something to do with all of this. I'm currently on BSNL Fiber net.

Thanks in advance.

Yes it's your isp. And it is related to your dynamic ip.
Pretty sure it is my ISP given that the only source of location that a mundane pc can rely on is the IP. But how exactly do I confirm this? I did speak to my ISP rep who is of course clueless about the whole thing.

Some sites locate my IP in b'lore while some locate me in Hyd which is by itself weird. Speedtest also tells me that I'm in hyd :|

Is there a way to play with the DNS / dynamic ip (apart from rebooting my router - which does not help, btw) to force locate me in B'lore?

^^ try some other service... this sniper thing is not doing its job properly.

try typing "find my location" in google. there are plenty of other web services that show my correct location, except for that sniper :p

I just google'd where I am. I'm now supposedly in Koti Women's college, Hyd according to G'maps. :|
