hi all...i want to upgrade my pc (cpu mobo gpu) with a limited budget.i have to sell most of my current components and add some k s to buy the new one.i now have :
athlon x2 4800+ brisbane 2.51g
asus m2n-mxse
9500gt 512mB :mad:
2+2g ram 800mhz ddr2
good old syncmaster 15" (1024*768 @75hz max) 6yrs old
500watt frontech

after a bit of research i ve narrowed down to
phenom 2 x2 550 be (confirmed)
biostar 790gxb
and radeon 4670

i ve decided to sell one piece of ram as im goin to use 32 bit os (xp most probably..ive had bad memories using x64)

previously i used a radeon 3850 absolutely rock solid..and my 1 week old new 9500gt really doesnt live up to my expectations at all.
so will the 4670 be a good choice as im not going any above than 1024*768??

ive heard about the 4770..as it uses only 80w max and pci e will give 75w so only 5w through power connectors to balance.will my psu be able to handle this 4770??or should i get a biostar 790gx to crossfire 2*4670 in case i buy a new monitor later??i have tight budget guys so i cant afford psu+4770 :(

should i sell all my 4gigs and move towards ddr3 and giga770t??
is 2gig for xp x86 enough??or should i get another 1g in case i use win 7??im very confused :huh:
btw im from kolkata...can someone please give an idea abt the price of these..

Don't risk a 4770 with a Frontech 500W SMPS. In kolkata, only XFX 4770 is available and that too @7400/- + VAT. I bought x2 550 and Biostar TA790GX 128M from Vedant @5.2k and 5k respectively excluding VAT. And yeah, if you are on a tight budget, stick to 4670. It will be enough for you. One of my friend is using 4670 512MB with a 20" monitor, he can play every game (except CRYSIS @ very high setting, but your resolution is 1024*768 so you can play at very high detail). Later you can upgrade your monitor, graphic card and PSU. In chandni, 1GB version of 4670 is available only(at least few weaks back) and that too of powercolor probably. Don't take the 1GB as its useless and waste of money. If you don't find a 512MB, order one from TE dealers. 2GB RAM will be enough for you. I am using 2GB and there is no prob due to memory shortage (see my signature for my rig detail). Don't even think about CROSSFIREing with your Frontech 500W SMPS. Even if you buy a 4670, I suggest you to get an entry level SMPS within 1.5k. And to be future proof and set 2 4670 CFX, you will need Corsair CX400 or VX450( can handle 4770 CrossFireX too).
 
Better go for the Gigabyte460w@2.3k... This will provide you enough power for the card.... u can also look for the CM extreme power plus at this price range.....:)
 
thanks guys for your quick reply :)its been a great help..so im sticking with 4670 :)..is the gddr4 version of 4670 available in india??

and what about ddr2 vs ddr3...is the ddr3 worth it??if no then im sticking to bio ta790gx or gxb..if the price diff is less than .8k im going with the 790gx..

@sabby..hows the processor 550be??have you oced it just by increasing the multiplier or changing the freq or both??...3.675 on stock hsf in kolkata is a verrry nice job well done man :) :hap2:..do you mind giving a little tip or hint :ashamed: on that... have you unlocked all the cores??

Well, I don't think you are gonna get 790Gx / gxb in chandni. But I got my TA790GX 128M @5k which is a steal. DDR3 will be future proof, but will cost you more e.g. 500/- more for 2GB RAM, AM3 mobo will cost at least 6k. As per your situation, get DDR2. 4670 DDR4 isn't available in India I think.

Nope, I couldn't get my X2 550 unlocked. :( mine is 0919EPMW which has a success rate of 65-75% for unlocking. While talking to the Vedant guys (they are helpful), insist if you can get a 0922 batch processor, they have 100% unlocking record. I increased the multiplier from 15.5 to 17.5 and the BUS speed from 200MHz to 210MHz. In OCCT, max temp was 47 degree Celsius. :) Specially my motherboard is very stable for OC and absolutely worth the 5k. It has the capability to unlock cores too.
 
frontech-a bit valuable than crap.
take VIP silver 500w if u are on shoe string budget.(1.5k) or a extreme series 500w:)

1 advantage of taking am2+ board is u can use a am2, am2+, am3 proccy + ddr2 ram which is cheap.

and if i move towerds ddr3 then ive to spend more money on the mobo and the ram both.not too much improvement though.am3s just entering the ddr3 scene so it might not be a big improvement.and the entry level mobos only support upto 1333mhz not 1600mhz.so im sticking to ddr2 and 4670...and the 790gxb a2+

i got the frontech 500w for 580/- :eek:hyeah:
