PCI WiFI Card & Networking

Guys,

I have a DSL connection which I want to share with my laptop which has WiFi.. Now I am looking for a PCI WiFi card... Which is the best, suppporting latest security modes...

I will be setting it in Ad hoc mode since I don't have a router...

Also any more inputs for such setup besides the card....

Buy a wifi router instead... connect ur machine to it via ethernet and use wifi on ur laptop. Best of both worlds.

Bro,

I don't want to spend much right now & the network is just to share Internet... I will definately restrict access to my drives....

Also since the connection is only 256 kbps... right now I ain't have much expectations....

Anyway.. Can you enlighten me with prices of some routers????

You'll get a decent router for under 3k. Try the Linksys WRT54G/WRT54GL. A wireless adapter costs around 1.5 to 2k depending on the brand and features. Might as well put in that little extra bit and get a router. Like Chaos said, best of both worlds!

Bro, the future setup I am looking for is to install a router at one point in the house & wirelessly connect to it via my laptop & desktop... so pci wi-fi card would be needed....

Now the setup would cost me atleast 4-5k thats why I was looking for ad-hoc....'coz we don't have much speeds still... (256kbps is quite low to share)...so no point spending much...

Any more ideas.. I wan't to go for most feasible...!!

Please help me with prices of some PCI Wi-FI cards... Its been a week & not much contributions from members...

I don't know much about them since nobody around me uses Wi-Fi...!!!
