Hi,

I am currently using imate SP5m and thinking of buying a new mobile.

My budget is max 20K. My requirement is to view movies (compressed dvds), GPS, EDGE/GPRS to browse net and outlook sync to read mails offline.

In imate SP5m, compressed movies are not playing properly, unless I overclock my device. I don’t want to do this in the new one.

The first option is to buy HTC P3470. Anyone has experienced this one?
The other option I have is, just go for HTC P3400 and buy a GPS navigator separately.

Any other good PDA with GPS?

Thanks
Samuel

Samuel,

For me P3470 is NO NO because of no Wi-Fi availability and carrying two gadgets at time i.e. P3400 and a GPS unit doesn't makes sense to me.

Why not HTC P3300, It easily meet the said requirements. Have the same requirements in my mind 3 months ago, I settled on P3300 and today i am happy with the decision taken :)

Cheers

Hmmm.... P3300 also has WIFI, how much did it cost you? Any idea about pricing from Alpha?

Let me know.

Thanks

The 3470 doesnt have Wi-Fi ,only GPS available. Shall put you back by 19.5k

The 3300 (Artemis) has both Wi-Fi and GPS . Last time i inquired about a month back here in hyd, it costed around 17.5k

HTC P3300 is also on my mind.

P3470 looks new and has more RAM.
P3470 does not have Wi-Fi, but I never use Wi-Fi. (I sync my mobile with PC and read the mails offline).

If the price difference is more than 1.5K then I will settle with P3300 :)

Have watched any divx movie on P3300, how is the experience?

For GPS, do we need to buy map software or HTC offers any map?

why not the N95? HAs a big screen and a built-in GPS.

Two years back I had Nokia-Ngage. Comparing the experience with symbian mobile and Windows Mobile, i prefer Windows Mobile.

Further it is above 20K.

Sorry, i wasn't online !!

You may be ain't using Wi-Fi currently but frankly speaking Wi-Fi is the Future !! So better have a futuristic product rather then a product suiting your current requirements.

I haven't watched the Full DivX movies on it, but yes have seen some long song flicks. No Pain, due to screen size the flicks went off like breeze.

In India, HTC offer 1 city map along with the unit which comprises any of the metro city. However, due to improper updates it's quite old i.e. 2 yr old my in my case "Read DELHI". I have been using All-india Mapmyking.com software and it is certainly worth for every penny spent.

Though not on PDA but Smartphone, the divX movie watching experience greatly depends upon:

1. bit rate at which encoded.

2. Software used for playing. TCPMP 0.81

3. If using Stereo Bluetooth, with my 200Mhz procci, it jerks, otherwise its smooth.

I bought P3470 yesterday. I tried playing a MP4 movie clip and it played without any jerk. :)

Imate SP5m has the same processor but while playing the movie on it, i had seen lot of jerks. May be the increased RAM and/or micro SD made difference.

Yet to check the accuracy of MapKing's bangalore map.

Anybody know where I can find a free "photo contact manager" for pocket pc similar to Photo Contacts (Pocket PC Edition - Easy to see Full Screen Photo Caller ID for the Pocket PC Phone

thanks

Guys,

Hope this thread is watched by folks using HTC. Do we have HTC for CDMA available? I am aware of Touch, but am not really inclined to it. Anyother ones? I think HTC + EVDO would be a deadly combo!
