My favorite freeware is CutePDF . A virtual PDF printer, works great, no watermarks, no ads.

Or you could work with Open Office's inbuilt export as PDF function.

Also try the PDFCreator project from sourceforge.net ,but u need to make sure the printer port has no problems and the service is running i guess.
