Hi Guys,

I am having a Kingston Data Traveler 100. When i use it for copying data from my desktop onto it, the speeds are horribly low 27kbps-100kbps max. but when i use it on my laptop , it works perfectly giving writing speeds of 4MBps & above. What can be the issue in this case ?

My PC Config is : MSI 785 Chipset , AMD Athlon II X3 435 @ 2.9GHz & Kingston 2GB DDR3 1333MHz.

Lukin for a quick solution and Thanks in anticipation.

Regards,

DId you get these speeds while you have your pen drive plugged in the front panel port of your desktop ?. If so then try in the rear panel and report back...

Thanks for ur replies and sorry on my part for reverting late.

@amd999 , none of the AV SW's are running nor there is any virus in my PC or Pendrive (completely formatted it).

@vivacious_tg , my PC & Laptop are both running on Windows 7.

@anfjavid , i tried both back & front panels but the results are same.

Any other solutions for fellow TE'ians ?

does your pen drive worked normal on the desktop before, or does you have installed usb drivers for the same .Also does it shows any pop up messages when plugging the USB, for eg:usb plugged to a high speed port etc.

If any above attempt again fails , then final option, JUST INSTALL A USB 2.0 VERSION PCI CARD( OR TAKE FROM YOUR FRIEND'S PC FOR JUST TESTING) AND CHECK THE SAME.? YOU WILL GET FINAL ANSWER HERE ..GO ON .................

@amd999 , i just bought a new desktop .. config stated in my first post ! My earlier desktop was P4 3.0 GHz , 1.5GB DDRI & AsRock 775-915GL Chipset. The pen drive worked like a charm on that .

Do i need to experiment with some particular settings in the BIOS in order to get my USB's working at max. speeds ? I don't get any msgs like USB plugged in a high or low speed ports.

Thanks once again.
