picked this up when it was on sale on steam a few weeks ago. very creepy game i have to say. more than most big budget horror games are if you ask me.

penumbra is quite scary...but the scare factor comes from the fact that you are severely handicapped...lack of proper weapons, restricted movements and lightin (reduced no. of flares etc). I was frightened into stop playin on my first encounter with dog.I could hear my heart pounding hard. damn, Im such a chicken

IMO, initial levels of dead space employs correct balance of handicap and action. its scary but keeps action alive with right weapons and strong melee attacks.

But for a game which was developed by a team of two (?) and as a ui tech demo, its infact too good

it was actually a student project for college when it started. it's impressive that they managed to make it one of the scariest games of the past few years.
