This is what i found on DFI-Street...

These are the "BEST BANG for the BUCK" PSU's:

Angry_Games said to add this $39.99 Special, so here it is!

Sky Hawk/Eagle Tech ATX-GM520SC 520W

Specs: http://www.shg.com.tw/front/bin/ptlist.phtml?Category=62768

Indian Version http://www.zebronics.net/powersupply.asp :P

The PSU i am talking about is Diamond Series ZEB-540W... It is actually SkyHawk Power One and when you buy the PSU there is just the box of Zeeby even on the PSU it is mentioned Skyhawk Power One...

The PSU is Priced at a decent 4500 bucks and considering the fact its a Modular PSU it becomes a steal. I know ppl will think twice about spending Rs 4500 on a Local/Unheard brand Zebby/SkyHawk over Antec/Vantec/Cooler Master and likes but guys trust me its a good PSU. I am using one for quite a while and i have check the Rails and it just fine. Zebby is giving a 3 Yr warrenty on the PSU which even makes it better.

For more inputs you can ask Funky who is using the same PSU but infact the 640W version which is a tad more.

Yep even a review on MadShrimps rates this PSU to be excellent.

I am personally buying the 640W one soon, really bang for the buck I must say...

Tentative pricing :

540W - 4.5~4.7k

640W - 5.5~5.7k

great info their switch, so zebby is the best buy psu when it comes to VFM and performance :D

@anish. thanks for prices

@Eddy, freaky, saiyan for finding the damn thing first

Thanks a lot for the detailed info on the Zebby 540W psu switch.
It will really help ppl buying psu's on TE.

Currently me too will recomend the zebby 540W to all those buying a new psu.

Total VFM.

Could anyone tell me what the amps on rail of the 540W is? I don't think the 12V rails are particularly strong on that skyhawk. I could be wrong though!

Actually that was a single recommendation made by Angry_Games of DFI Street when he picked it up at a bargain price. He rated the PSU good value for money, considering it costed him hardly 30~40$. However the Indian pricing for it is far from value for money at almost 100$. It does look to be a good PSU no doubt, but the pricing leaves a lot to be desired. If they could price it a bit lower, it would overtake even the Powersafe's for someone looking for a serious entry-level PSU.

For ~ 5K (approx, dont know exact the prices) you could pick up an Antec SmartPower 2.0 500W with 12V Rails @ 17A and 19A, which is second on the list of the Best Bang for the Buck PSU's.

@ Eddy - Is there really a Smart Power 2.0 500W for 5k  ??

Also here are the specs of the 540W and the 640W :

If you notice the rails on the 640W are +12V1@20A, +12V2@20A, while that on the TP2550W are +12V1@19A, +12V2@19A.

So for me the Zebby 640 looks more VFM as the TP2 550 is about 7k as opposed to 5.5k for this...:)

thats the reason i went in for 640 directly insted of 540.

1K premium was ok for me to go in for 640.

The thing i love about this PSU is the 12v line stability. it has never, i mean never under any condition has gone below 12.0volts. be it stock, massively overclocked cpu/gpu under full load.

Actiually none fo the voltage lines have veried from their stated values.

No fluctuations under full load.

And its silent. The PSU fans are thermally controlled. They dont kick in till temp reaches 40C.

The 640 is still good 2K cheaper than TP II 550.

I would rather advice to go in for Zebronics 640 rather than 540.

I have my doubts about the support for ventec in indian also its not modular and i am not ready to fork out premium for TP II.

I am getting very good PSU for considerablely cheaper price and TP II 500. And thats what made me buy this and I am sure from what i have experienced that this PSU will last me for a while. And Zebronics has decent support all over india if i need it in future.

The other alternative is Antec Smartpower 2.0 500.

Problem is only blade got it here and that was a pull out of some cabinet and not retail product. I am unable to find SP 500 here. Thats also modular. I dont know what its pricing are.

And oh btw those are wrong ratings for 540 watt.

it has 18 and 16 amps resp on +12v1 and+12v2

wat bout other rails of the 540w models maybe all other rails are strong(its a way to cheat people on overall output of the PSU .....)

You can see for yourself in the table posted above. But mainly 12v line should be considered as most of the main components draw power from it.

@ Anish.

the table on the japan site for 540 is incorrect.

I guess the translator was really bad at english launguage :P

here is actiual voltage rails on 540 and 640.

Well, we were at the Antec office today and saw a SP 500W and asked Vinod for the rate. He said that it would be around the 5K mark. He has already made it clear that if anyone at TE want the SP 500, he would be able to provide it. My opinion is that it is also good for the price but the Zebby 640 that Funky got is serious quality for the price.
