People of Delhi, how is odd/even rule working out for you

Its surprisingly great actually. I expected a total disaster. There is less traffic on my office commute. People around the office are carpooling. Win win situation really.

If the pollution levels are coming down over the next two weeks I would genuinely recommend extending this for a longer period.

Please see the condition of other public transport services!

I did, first hand. I used Metro today HUDA route, Mrs used it yesterday, Nehru Place route. Used auto to get to the Metro station. Its fine. No better and no worse than any other regular day. Lets not post that retarded ass pic from 2013 to pass it off as a disaster.

it had no effects... there were several reports published on this matter today.

Too early (yesterday was the first proper working day), if it stays the same over the next two weeks then we can call it pointless.

Sir, the "law abiding" citizens of Delhi have already started flouting the rules. Also, "janta hai mera baap kon hai" virus is on the rise. It's too early to announce this experiment as success, unless of course your support AAp

Only opinions of people who don't have easy public transport access should be counted. That is what the whole thing hinges on. A lot of people seem to have had to defy the odd-even rule despite penalties simply because they do not have any means of conveyance. On the same lines the discrimination should also be considered. Women and VIPs were exempt from the rule. why? What would the feedback be like if the same rules apply to women? One aspect is that women are forced to travel in public transport in cramped up buses. The other is that in Delhi/Chandigarh cities have quite a number of households where both wife and husband have a car each on their names making the odd/even rule meaningless to them.

Further, what would be the feedback like if the politicians are also forced to use public transport and their govt vehicles are barred? I don't see why certain public servants should get better privileges than the public.

Also its absurd how the local govt is claiming 30% reduction in pollution without showing the numbers for it. How convenient it would be if pollution can be brought down so easily in less than a week's time. A study by some IITain's already showed that strategy would not help reduce pollution by any significant percentage (less than 1% is what they claimed). So, I would like to see data from a independent non govt source proving the govt's claims.

The only advantage with odd-even is it made pollution a talking point among masses, Creating lot of awareness.
This is from BBC news observation

I live near one of the most polluted regions in Delhi, Anand Vihar.
I have observered significant decrease in pollution level at that place and less traffic level.
In fact, I have observed quite an ease in traffic situations in Delhi.

Why are women exempt from the rule? Isn't this a case of gender discrimination. I thought laws are supposed to be neutral.

So that delhite can rape them as usual. Delhi can only think of such hopeless policies but can do nothing to curb serious crimes. All are of same creed i.e. Greed!
