!!!**I Never Seen A Thread Based On PES, But I'm Truely Sorry If There Was Or Is, But I Thought I'd Show You Guys!!:) (I'm Also Sorry If You Dont Like PES!!!:Dx)**!!!

The next edition of everybody's favourite football sim, Pro Evolution Soccer 2008, is well underway and Konami has finally broken the silence and revealed what it hopes will make this the footy game to own this year.

The big new feature Konami is shouting about is an 'adaptive' AI system it calls "Teamvision". As Konami explains: "Teamvision is a sophisticated AI programming that learns and adapts according to an individual's style of play. As such, it will learn new ways to build attacks and to counter specific movements and previous attacking or defensive errors, ensuring games are more in line with the tactical but flowing nature of the real thing."
So finding a big weakness in the game's AI and repeating your technique won't work anymore, by the sounds of it.

Defenders will work together to track down the player, closing up spaces and blocking advances before they can be converted into goals.

Konami emphasises the significance of the ball being "treated as a separate entity", as with previous Pro Evo titles, and explains that passing and control over the ball will work "along the same lines".

But overall 'close control' of the ball is said to be improved, with dribbling and other subtle moves tweaked to allow the player to weave through the defence. Set pieces have also been enhanced, now giving you full control over the number of players and position of the defensive wall, among other offensive options.

As expected, Konami will be adding a fair bit of spit and polish the visuals of the new game on PS3 and 360, with full facial animations, sure to make for more convincing replays, and more realistic cloth movement on the kits as the players sprint around. An edit mode will also feature.

Shingo Takatsuka, creator of the series and producer of PES 2008 said, "We have taken a long hard look at what has made the Pro Evolution Soccer series so popular, and where we want to take it next.

"With the new Teamvision AI system, we truly believe that we have elevated the game to a new level. The movement of players off the ball, coupled with the total control given to the player, creates the closest simulation of real football to date. We really hope everyone enjoys our evolution. I promise it will be worth the wait."

PES 2008 will be out in Autumn 2007.

I think this game will be really good, ive enjoyed playing PES with me friends and especially my uncle, we have had some good drinks to it:P

well, the game does look a bit "FIFA-LIKE" as the post on the article does state, anyways, i'll have yet another truck-load of fun playing this, konami never make mistakes, :)

If some one doesnt like PES here I'll be happy to kill them for you Mac. :D

Every year I think Konami will get real licenses and I wont end up playing as Nort London or Tynesyde. Still even with crap names it still pisses over FIFA every time. Though last year Fifa did improve drastically.

Konami did screw up PES 6 quite a bit with their automatic player switching sucking as hell and their shooting mechanism changing for worse, but still it pwns fifa no end.

Also, this new edition will be called PES 7 right??Not PES 2008 I guess..what say?

I Second Digital Brian^^ yeah i thought PES 6 wern't as good as the others too, i hope this one is better!, i also hope they have more licenses, konami had more licenses, on PES 5, but they got dropped for PES 6, (If Im Correct, Please correct me if im wrong) i think PES 2008(7) would be good, i just think its loads more fun than FIFA, and on PES you dont get all those annoying little gliches!!!!

^ Thats Darthcoder :P
And the licenses were almost same I guess...they lost out on the Chelsea license but gained Manchester United license in EPL but added some spanish teams I guess..they already had the Serie A sides covered though.

looks like the best game of all time is gonna get even better.

& pes6 was way better than pes5 guys. the best thing was the advantage system & the ref not giving stupid fouls & encouraging open end to end play like we usually see on tv.

pes5 was like spanish la liga where ppl fall down & ref gives the the foul for no reason at all.

Konami Unveils Pro Evo 2008

First screens and info point to the most realistic footie game yet.

by Alex Simmons, IGN UK

UK, June 18, 2007 - Konami has lifted the lid on the first details for the next Pro Evo game and has promised that it will be "the closest simulation of real football to date." Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 (working title) will be released on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC, PS2, PSP and DS later this year and boasts what Konami is calling "a revolution in player artificial intelligence" -- dubbed Teamvision, which enables the opposition to learn your style of player and adapt their tactics accordingly.

According to Konami, Teamvision will totally change the way PES fans play the game, because the adaptive AI forces players to constantly rethink their tactics. So, for example, if you prefer to run the ball down the wing and knock in a cross to a tall centre forward like Peter Crouch, your opponent will quickly change their tactics to close down the wide players and mark your hitmen more heavily. Similarly, if your favoured method of defence is to protect the back four with a sweeper -- then the other team will quickly pick up on this and change their attackers to take advantage of your formation.

Naturally the effectiveness of an opponent's change in tactics depends on the team they're playing as: strong international and club squads will be able to counter your tactics faster and more effectively than less skilled clubs, although players will still notice the change in their opponents play if they resort to using the same channels of attack. Likewise, powerful teams can also punish lazy tactical play to devastating effect, so if you lose the ball in your half to Robbie Keane there's a good chance he'll score. However, lose out to a less proficient striker and the odds of them converting the shot are less favourable.

The improved AI changes the way the game is played almost on every level, forcing players to take a much wider view of the game and real use the full width and breadth of their team. As such the pitch scanner plays a much bigger part in the game because it enables players to pick out openings in the defence (if they're skilled enough, obviously) and thread a ball through to an advancing attacker.

Teamvision affects set-plays as well as free play too. Cheap free kicks are a thing of the past because the opposing defence will close down runs faster, which prevents players from passing a ball into the box and tapping a shot in from short range. Naturally there are times when you will scorean easy goal, whether it's from a well-worked passing move or a fizzing direct free kick, but the enchanced AI now means players must think more if they want to consistantly win.

Other improvements promised for PES 2008 includes improved greater close control, so there's more scope for skilled dribbling, tricks and neat inter-player passing moves. Setting up a free-kick isn't quick as restrictive either, whether you're defending or attacking. You can change the number of players in the wall if you're defending or, if you're on the attacking, plan runs more intricately and position specific target men for the kicker to aim for.

However, the most noticeable improvement PES 2008 will offer over its predecessors (apart from Teamvision of course) is the graphics. Konami promises it will be a true next-gen experience, so there will be proper facial animations, shirt pulling and kits that flow and crease as the players run around. Watermarks from sweat and rain appear as the game continues too, bringing the player that bit closer to the action than ever before. All next-gen versions will feature a fully functional edit mode too -- something that was sorely lacking from last year's 360 version of PES 6 -- so players can create there own team and or edit existing ones. As yet there's no word on which licensed teams will feature or indeed what online modes we can expect.

"We have taken a long hard look at what has made the Pro Evolution Soccer series so popular, and where we want to take it next," commented Shingo 'Seabass' Takatsuka, creator of the series and Producer of PES 2008. "With the new Teamvision AI system, we truly believe that we have elevated the game to a new level. The movement of players off the ball, coupled with the total control given to the player, creates the closest simulation of real football to date. We really hope everyone enjoys our evolution. I promise it will be worth the wait." We certainly hope so.

ROFL..PES 5 for me was the most perfect PES Ever.
The shooting system and ball physics have worsened in PES 6, and the foul thingy wasnt that much a problem in PES5 as in PES 3/4 IMHO.

But the Automatic player switching, shooting and ball physics really took a dip in PES 6, but still much much better than FIFA.

And Quad, FIFA Manager Mode is a straight copy of PES Master League feature.Blind copy,LOL.
In fact, ML is the best feature of PES :D.

what automatic player switching are u talking about man. u can change it to manual. whats wrong with u.

@ quad - ever heard of master league in pes. it owns.

I can change it to manual, I know that :P
But the thing is, the automatic player switching in PES 5 was very good (i.e. it transferred to the player nearest to the CPU player with the ball after only one tap of the L1 button, now I have to press L1 i.e. my 'Q' button on the keyboard like mad to get the focus to the player nearest to the CPU player in posession, Konami knowingly screwed up that feature to make the game harder and it sucks).

PLUS, the ball physics in PES 6 are a let down, the ball just wont go out of the touchline when I clear it but goes out like a rocket when the CPU defence clears it and the shooting also doesnt compare with that of PES 5 and I personally find it friggin hard to score from freekicks and I used to score for fun from freekicks in PES 5 (Ask Rave, ave virtually won 50% of my games from the last kick of the game if that is a freekick, no such luck now :( ).

True, the automatic switching is a bit of a problem in this version. So I switched to the manual system, and find it much better. But overall, I think PES6 is a much better game. No cheapo free kicks like in pes5 :P. They were too easy. But then again, they overcompensated. They are too difficult in pes6.

What I love about pes6 is the defense AI. The top player defense is brilliant! (Awesome tackles, tracking and intercepts.)Makes the game much more challenging. (And the PSP version is much more difficult. Have just hit a 9 match losing streak.:()

This teamvision thing sounds promising. There wont be any of those repetetive plays anymore. (Run along flank, send to center blindly shoot...rinse.... repeat....)

if u are using automatic switching then u are mad. no offense. but automatic always sucked & always will. play manual. it owns completely. q or l1. doesnt matter. u will notice the diff in your game instantly.

Why the heck are the screenies on the net always from replays and all ? Can't we get some proper in-game screens for once ?
