I read some threads in this site for buying headphone for the price around 800.Based on the suggestions given by some of the senior members I decided to buy shp 2500 even though it was not available in my city I was waiting for deepavali ,one of the store in my city put shp 2500 on display immediately I purchased the headphone I am very much impressed by the appearance of this headphone.I connected it to my pc (On board sound card mother board is asus p5kpl am/ps) I was shocked the sound quality is not impressive.I have sony (nwz b133f) mp3 player that player's ear phone sounds better than this and more than this shp 2500 is producing some noise with most of mp3 songs if the volume exceeds certain level but there is no such problem in neither old entry level creative speakers nor sony ear phone. One more thing I noticed about this product is When I kept the volume to maximum in both shp 2500 and vlc media player I found the maximum volume is way below sony ear phone's maximum volume (it don't have volume control so I only keep the vlc media player volume to maximum level) I even checked this volume issue with sony mp3 player there also the same result.I am feeling this is not the best product for it's price (Around rupees 800). So the moral is don't jump any buy the products discussed in forums without personally know about it.

yup the volume of SHP 2500 is very low even at max volume. Burn the headphones for a few hours before using. SHP 2500 are have pretty decent clarity and bass for the price

i have a shp 2000 and i am pretty satisfied with the sound quality of it...may be because i bought it for rs 250 from ebay (original prices was 500rs):)

I didn't mean the maximum volume of this headphone is very low I mentioned comparative result only.

Dude you have to burn it in ! Just play some music continuosly for 2 - 3 days and it will start sounding better.

Thank u friends for your reply,I didn't hear about the term burn before so when I read reply of Gowt1ham I could not understand it after so many experts are insisting on using the head phone for few days I decided to try that before posting the result.

how exactly do you define sound quality?
tried listening to it on the sony mp3 player?

I was expecting good result while playing Linkin park new divide video. When I played that video with both sony ear phone and shp2500 I found sony sound quality better than shp2500 and if I raise the volume above certain level in vlc media player there is slight noise (this kind of sound I experienced 10 years before while using cassette player whenever I played old songs) is coming in shp2500.This noise if not coming with all the songs but mostly old songs and some new songs.

One more doubt not related to shp2500 I could not find visible difference between mp3 songs of 128 bit and 320 bit what is the reason for this.Is it because my mother board integrated audio or something else,I could not find any difference in sony mp3 player also.

you really need to listen hard, and even then, most people may not spot the difference.

Even I am not sure sometimes :)

SHP 2500 is an enty level HP + u need a decent soundcard to play flacs and notice the difference

I meant the headphone i sdecent for the price but its not very very good. A ep 830 is better compared to it in music depatment but both are for different purpose

Dunno about the shp2500 but my trusty shp805s are still sounding great despite really rough handling. I recall being less than impressed with the sound of those when I first bought it too but I love them now.

the shp2500's are really good, i have a pair which i bought in 2004

the problem is that your mp3 player doesnot have enough power to drive them to the proper volume levels.

I recently bought these , the sound is very low specially in some youtube videos where someone is talking its almost impossible to understand because of the low sound.
