How is the phillips 37PF7321. Its a 37" lcd and looked better than the Samsung. Its selling for 79k in mumbai and comes with an HDMI DVD player free....

I saw it next to the Samsung and the colors looked much better?

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Good choice. What's the difference between the 37" and 32" models?

Sharp/Panasoinc are Japanese brands as far as I recall. It will most likely be better that Samsung(korean) or Sony(who now outsources everything to China.)

Hopefully Sharp products are still made in Japan. Samsung may also be a good buy also as they seem to be producing good LCDs. Don't know much about Philips LCDs.

If you haven't already done this, you can go to a local store for comparison. At these prices, better to check it out for yourself also.

Dude go for Sony or Sharp... They are gr8 models Donno bout Sony making lcd's in china, but the are still good. Sharp are gr8 as well.. V Series frm Sony is arnd 85k And is worth the price... As far as the free player is concerned, u shldnt be attracted by tat, get a proper tv.

I was dead set on buying a LCD player soon to replace my aging 21 inch Sony. But, I'm not really sure. After various demos (I went to atleast 2-3 Electronics shops here at Bangalore, to rule out a bad setup), I'm just not convinced about the quality of the picture. Sure, the demo DVD that Samsung and Sony put out look absolutely fantastic. But whenever, they switch to cable or Tata Sky, the picture looks crappy, with ghosting and unnatural colours and picture distortion. if you set the wide mode to the default aspect ratio (4:3), the picture size isn't much better.

Somehow, I feel that this whole LCD hype is misplaced in India, with the paucity of proper content that can take advantage of the technology. Sure, it will get your neighbours talking, but is it really worth the huge money?

Just for comparision, I saw tata sky broadcast on the Philips 8836 29" CRT right after. I was totally bowled over by the clarity and richness of the picture. I'm probably going to buy that one and use the 50K that I save on something more useful (XBOX 360 maybe:-)

dude for display like 37 or 50 need very clear quality image feed as well.
in singapore i have seen shops where starhub gives demo of HD cable.
on 50" 1080p panel you try normal cable and then try HD cable.
man you feed normal cable to these panels and quality... better go for 29" CRT.. more clear... coz made for that only.......
but 37, 50 these panels needs you to have HD quality feed. i am not sure about tata but i dont think it is even real DVD quality... they say in advertise but what image side and bitrate they are using i am not sure...
thats why the demo they show is clear.. that is what these panels are capable of... but you connect normal cable tv...you know the result... try running high quality encoded Divx movie on it....many things depends on input these panels are getting..
i am not master in display panels ... just general observation which i like:)
