my mom is going to america in a few days. she currently has a samsung j600. the frequencies it supports are GSM 900 / 1800 / 1900. will it work in america? if not then which frequency works there?
can u also help me on which sim card we should buy to get the cheapest rates

i dont want a local no. there... il check out the matrix....but 1st i need to know if the samsung will work there

guys please help

As long as it has 1900MHz and intl roaming activated, it'll work. Horribly expensive though... arnd 150 rupees a minute.

Get a T-mobile prepaid connection and afaik T-mobile works on GSM 1900... it has 7pm - 7am free incoming (ideal if u r receiving calls from India)

^ Get a T-Mobile connection as Wraith said, and a Vodafone calling card with which you can call the US at Rs.2/min. The best solution as of now for making calls from India to the US.

NOT all networks you use in US may be 1900Mhz, Please check. In case you want to be 100% sure, get ur mom a basic quad-band cell. That will work guaranteed. :)

t-mobile will work perfectly on a tri-band phone. at&t will have some coverage issues, but it will still work (although a quad-band is recommended). not too sure about the smaller gsm service providers.
