Hi
I have had my OP7 Pro for around 5 years now and if only the battery would hold up and it would charge faster, I would keep it for a few more years. It was and still is one of the best looking phones IMHO. However now I cant get through the day without having to charge at-least twice and sometimes more than that. Thus looking to upgrade.

Questions:-
1. Budget?
A: Max 30K

2. Preferred display size, type and resolution?
A: No preference really. Something equivalent to OP7 Pro would be good enough.

3. Preferred operating system? (Android (with version), iOS, etc).
A: Android latest

4. Preferred connectivity options? (4G, 3G, 2G etc).
A: 5G if possible but not fussed about it.

5. Do you have any brand preference or dislike? Please name them.
A: Don't like Samsung, or mi OS (redmi phone etc). I prefer clean android skins like OxygenOS. Currently considering Motorola and Oneplus phones

6. What is your intended use for this phone (internet, camera, multimedia, mails etc.)?
A: Everything other than heavy gaming.

7. Single SIM/ Dual SIM?
A: No preference

8. New or Used? Online or Offline?
A: Either is fine

9. Any other requirements?
A: At least 5000 mAH battery, 8 GB ram, Something that looks really good and perhaps even different. Is Moto razr fold a good idea for a long-term phone?

10. If you have already considered a phone, then please mention the model
Motorola Edge series (Edge 60 fusion), Oneplus 12.

Thanks for your recommendations. Though I like Oneplus brand, I am considering Motorola Edge 50 Pro 5G mostly due to looks but also because of 125w charging. Is this a good phone? Also in terms of providing long term security and android updates which is better Motorola or Oneplus?
motorola doesnt do updates, like at all, their update policy is honestly the worst of all brands, if you are looking for that, then motorola is a no bueno for you

I am surprised and disappointed to hear that, as their phones are pretty good. I heard the same from youtube reviews also thus the question. I guess I'll be looking at oneplus then.

why not Nothing? if you loved OP phones for their clean OS, then you'll be sorely disappointed with the current state of OxygenOS, wait for Diwali Sale, Nothing Phone 2 should drop down to 30-35k range, and at that price, its a really good phone though a little old, otherwise 13R might also come under your range.

Interesting and a bit quirky :). The Glyph thing on the back seems cool. Comparing with 13R, battery is 4700 mAH vs 6000 in 13R and charging speed is 45w vs 100w in 13R.
May I know what makes you recommend this phone? Is it the clean OS only or something else?

Nothing phone 2 is around 30K on amazon right now actually and 13R is 42K which is quite a bit higher. How does nothing fare on the updates side?

motorola phones are overall good. but their software optimisation is not. phones lag, sometimes way too much considering the capable hardware. they say edge 60 pro is good, but i am not sure. in terms of software optimisation, i dont even know which android oem has the best one other than pixels. i thought oneplus was good but comments point to the contrary here! i have the same budget as you and just looking for a phone which will be smooth AF.

nothing os right now is oxygen os older times, clean ui with its own flavor, updates wise you won't get as many updates on nothing it being 2 years older after all compared to 13R

The 125w vs 80w I can't say much since I've only used the 80/100w charging on oneplus and I think its plenty fast. Charges from 20 - 100 in under 30 minutes. The reason i prkmarily recommend oneplus is the service. At least in Hyderabad the service of oneplus is great and it's pretty much lacking from moto and nothing

I have 2 considerations when I look for a phone (do keep in mind these are mine)
1. No mediatek processor (I know they have improved a lot since the older days but they are still not on par with SD in terms of compatibility and stability.
2. The phone must use a flagship processor, doesnt matter if the processor is a couple years old or anything, I have seen SD releasing so many "mid-range" processors which on paper seem to be on par with the older flagship ones, but they never seem to work out in real life, I have seen that so many times in circle.

That being said, I have an Edge 30 fusion with a 888+, a processor released in 2020, and my phone still does not exhibit any lag whatsoever, its still buttery smooth, and I have seen the same thing with other phones, despite the processor being 3-4 years old, they still work just fine, though once in a blue moon, my phone does stutter a little which I attribute to the fact my internal storage has less than 800mb free and the fact that 888 is known for its heating issues.

Keeping all of that aside, Oxygen OS is just fine for a normal user, its just for those who were the expecting the older oxygen OS, they'll be disappointed, for normal day-today usage and casual users, its still good. As for Motorola, I wont be buying another phone from them anytime soon, their update policy sucks, their update timelines sucks, Edge 30 Fusion/Ultra were flagship series back in 2022, and even Ultra back then took 8-10 months before A14 made its way to it, and worst thing is, they actually took away some features with the A14 upgrade, primary being the AOD that motorola was known for, I still havent updated my Fusion to A14 because of that.

I have been using a Motorola Edge 30 Ultra for the last two years, and let me share my thoughts. It's a brilliant overall phone, no lag at all. Battery life is decent, charging is super fast, and it feels super premium. That said, here are a few cons:

  1. Software updates take a REALLY long time. Security updates, while quicker, are still long. I got the update to Android 15 just a few days ago. If you're looking at quick updates, akin to Samsung, OP, Pixels...Mototrola is not something you should look at
  2. If you get a phone that comes with the 125W charging brick, and you lose it, good luck getting a new one. Even Motorola, on its official website, does not have it listed. Only the punier options

Thanks Everyone. I think I will go for Oneplus 13r provided the price drops. I plan to keep the phone for at least 3 years so battery capacity, fast charging and long term updates are important to me.

that's a con on Moto's side, other brands sell their chargers, just checked Xiaomi, and they are selling their 120w charger on their site, aside from that, you can get something like a Ugreen. There shouldnt be any compatibility issues
