As promised I have written another Tutorial for my fellow designers and learners.
First thing you must have noticed is that I have not used the fansy looking Whole Image Tutorial like my last 2 tutorials, this is because, it have have caused some incoviniece for others with slow net connections.
In this Tutorial, I will teach you how to create a simple but realistic and cool looking reflection under your object/image/text.
Ok lets begin...
STEP 1:
Create a new document 500x500 in dimentions and fill it with black.I used 300x300 to prevent stretching in the forum
STEP 2:
Add in whatever text you want the reflection to be in.
STEP 3:
Duplicate your text layer (Ctrl+J) or right click on your layer pallete and select duplicate layer.
Now invert your text layer. For doing that, start by pressing Ctrl+T, then you will notice a box around your text layer.Right click in the box and select Flip Vertical, now once your text has been flipped, move it below your original text.
STEP 4:
Now, once you have arranged your vertically flipped text below your orignal text layer, reduce its opacity to around 15.
STEP 5 Optional:
This step isn't necessary and I don't recommend this to beginners. But this step adds another level of realism to the reflection.
Now, before you start this step remember to RESTERIZE YOUR REFLECTION TEXT LAYER or else it will not work.
Use the Rectangular Marquee Tool with a feather radius of 15.Now, start blending in the edges of your text reflection layer (The inverted text) untill you get something like what I have got in the above image.
And VOILA!!! Congratulation, you have sucessfully created a ultra cool reflection! Now, go win that Signature contest!
Side note: You can use my technique in any picture/object/shape/text/anything to get the reflection of it.
