Php newbie

Hi techenclave!

ive just started learnin php frm Sam's Teach yourself Php4. i wantd to go ahead and design a fully fuctional portal. with portal i mean easily able to add text data without modification to any html. also i needed a message board tht will b database driven
i hv seen some of the open source forums lik phpbb etc
but i needed a bare bones forum tht can b totally modified in terms of functionality.

if ne one has a minute....plz drop me a line !!

For the Portal, I would suggest Joomla, its an upgraded version of Mambo, and its nice...

The mambo dev team went separate ways iirc, joomla and mambo are now separate cms'.

^^ Yup they are completely seperate but Joomla has the same back-end as Mambo, only the interface is changed and some security features are added
