How you will find out working condition from pictures:huh: for example picture of dead motherboard, cpu, memory, gpu. No one can guess working condition from pictures:no: all sales are going on trust only,Its hard to stop cheating but posting self signed pictures of actual product seems good effort:)

Posting a pic is not the all-in -one solution, but if it takes us a step closer to a safer deal, then dont think there shud be any problem..

A product may perform brilliantly, but look damaged, chipped, old and dusty, or otherwise blemished. A photograph would similarly damage chances of the sale.
Whats wrong with him seeing the actual state of the product..?
I mean obviously no-one would try and guage the performance of a speaker based on its looks, rather would rely on the good judgement of the experienced members if they can check it(assuming he cant check it out himself..)

A product may have aesthetic appeal which a basic camera ruins (and therefore degrades the chance of the sale).
More reason for us to beg borrow or steal..hehe..really, as said before, its not an all in one solution..

Oh man.. :(

Pl give us some sort of warning [deadline for posting proper pics, if the posted ones aint fine] before u close the thread like that.. :(

Hammers?? Sounds li'l dictatorial FB... :P

more than 2 week warning was given people. you can always open ur threads again from itrader page after updating them with pics.

At the moment threads are closed. But if anyone tried to open the closed threads and bump them, they will be deleted all together. So better update and open your market threads.

Pictures don't really reduce/alleviate risk - many forums where sales of really expensive items are common, don't have this rule and things are great. There is the odd mishap but that normally is some new seller trying to make a quick buck - and that's something even pics can't help prevent ;)

Murders, robberies and rapes occur inspite of having cops.
Doesn't mean we stop having cops na.

Making pics compulsory is just making lives a bit tougher for probable scamsters. :)
Just like that stoopid 4-pin sim lock code i keep activated so that whoever steals my phone, God forbid, doesn't have an easy time using the new sim.
:tsucks:

:stup1:

Not a very good analogy Bikey :D

Let me expand on my last post and I'll try to make this short: Basic market requirements are good, like member's age/posts/rep. Trading is entirely up to buyers and sellers as TE does not make any guarantees. By introducing this new mandatory condition, is TE guaranteeing successful sales? In the event of a bad deal, let's say some buyer receives an empty box, will TE intervene and say "but the seller posted detailed pics with his username"? I guess there are no guarantees afterall, as end of the day TE is only a platform for members to trade and buyers have to do their own homework.

And anyway, buyers typically won't buy something without seeing a pic via PM or in the listing. Sometimes I list items and indicate I will post pics in the next day or two. There's no harm done there.

lol, didnt we discuss this to death in other thread as well. Its not about guaranteeing success. And yes its time and again proven rule. Number of scams are greatly reduced by this simple rule. All busy hardware forums started practicing this along with heatware ages ago after string of attempted scams. And it has gone down considerably over time with help of little moderation and these simple rules are put in place.

It may sound PITA now. But its only gonna do good. Its not gonna cause any harm by posting pics. Its that simple. There is no point telling this again and again and again. Move on.
