Pioneer DVD player??

LG makes decent ones too. Don't know the current model number but I bought one almost a year back for Rs 3200 IIRC. Region free and no problems at all.
 
I have Lg DS 9533 (Rs.3200/-) and my friend have LG 8533 or something (Rs.3500/- with FREE DIVX DVD of 5 movies and DIVX software) DVD Player both have no problem in last 6 and 2 months respectively.
 
If you go for Pioneer from the grey, you need to be careful.

I have the Pioneer 383, there was some problem regarding the regional settings and had to pay freaking 1000 bucks to get it repaired from an authorized pioneer service center coz no one else could fix it.

FYI, The minimum labour charges in an authorized pioneer service center is Rs.1000 + plus parts.

Go for the Pioneer DV-575-AS or later models. Its an universal player & so there's no region locking of discs. I play my Region 1 & Region 2 DVDs without any hassles on it. It can also play SACD & DVD-A discs, in case you are an audiophile. Plus mods (Gufiak, Mtz etc) are available on the net for modifying the firmware for better sub-titles display etc.
 
^^ Bought the 393-S already- happy with its performance.Plays all my Divx,dvds etc-had written one DVD with 5-6 Divx movies- plays even that!!
