PC Peripherals Pl suggest a decent PC config

My little sis wants a new PC.. dont want a very high-end config. It will be used mainly for net surfing, and her studies.. but it should be able to play some good current games. May be a P4 or equivalent (or may be the superior! ;) ) AMD proccy, could u pl suggest an avg config (around 30K)

Pl do provide the price of the final config. Also, u could suggest a better time to buy the PC (if the prices are expected to fall sometime soon) :)

AMD Athlon 64 3000+ --------> 5,000/-
Asus A8N-VM Mobo --------> 4,000/-
1GB DDR400 Ram -------------> 3,600/-
200GB SATA Seagate HDD ----> 4,000/-
LG DVD Writer ----------------> 2,000/-
Full ATX Cabinet--------------> 800/-
Powersafe 400W PSU---------> 1,300/-
17" Monitor -----------------> 12,000/-
Keyboard+Mouse - as per your choice.
I guess that shoudl be decent enough Rig for your sisters needs.PLease remember the prices are just indicative,they might differ..:)

Thanks Darklord
How much will be the diff if u get a dual core proccy+mobo, a 15 inch monitor?
And there isnt a big price diff between 120GB and 200GB, right? I was previously thinkin abt 120GB, but the 200GBs price looks attractve.
Also, the price of 1GB DDR400 RAM is so lucrative (Rs. 3600 :eek:) I think its time I added one for my rig!

Darky ur off pricing yaar :p

Athlon 64 3000+ 4.5k

Asus A8N-VM Mobo 3.5k

250 GB HDD costs 4k, 200 GB is lik3 3.7k

17" LCD 11.5k or 17" Flat CRT for 6.4k. No use goin for either a 15" LCD or CRT as the difference in pricing is so less.

Alternate Config

Pentium D 805 5.5k

Intel D101GGC/102 GGC 3.5k/3.6k

U blind or what ? Didnt you read this from my first post - PLease remember the prices are just indicative,they might differ.. :bleh:

Well regardign dual core, well X2 isnt exactly cheap as of now and the cheapest is retailing for nearly 14k or so.

Well the last time i got Powersafe 400W it was for 1300. Infact i remember purchasing the same at that price for couple of my friends. over a period of say nearly 6 months or so.

Well i aint talking about any particular LCD as such,talking in general.

and TT-BT for his sister. seems like an overkill.

Umm.. doesnt asus A8N-E have an nvidia chipset? Also, wats the price of this mobo?
And I agree with hummer.. a TT-BT is not needed.. she wont be making any proper justice to it.

The best HDD to go for right now is 250 GB. The diff is just about 600-700 bucks.

Hmm cant edit my previous post. DVD writer the LG H10A and H10N are supposed to the among the best now, around 2k-2.1k
