hi there,

i have newly joined in

I am planning to Amd , i currently have PIII-800mhz

there r various options below where i am not able to make my mind. plz help me out. And tell me where can i get a trusted amd dealer since its 1st time i am going for amd

config i have thought of

Athlon 64- 3200+ 939 E6
wanted 1MB L2 cache bt available in 3700+ which is costly
3000+ 2GHz has 747 socket

Motherboard very imp for me
Gigabyte GA-K8N51GMF-9 (nvidia 6100)/ MSI K8N SLI-FI (nforce 4)/ Asus A8N -SLI Deluxe / MSI RS480M2-IL (rs480)
I am lot confused abt motherboard, bcoz i want one with 939/dual memory support/ PCIe slots for upgradation/ gud onboard graphics for games/ SATA / with absolutely friendly bios for overclocking/ and compatible completely with 3200+ even wrt system bus. Sli added advantage
2 X 512 MB PC 3200 DDR 400 transcend/kingston/Corsair i dont know whats better w.r.t. service and gurantee
160GB HDD SATA Seagate/maxtor 7200 rpm
Optical Drive: Lite-On SOHW-165S DVD-Writer , I think it has
DVD +- RW Dual-layer 16X
Wireless Keyboard/Optical Mouse (Microsoft)/(Logitech)
Monitor 17" (Acer Ac715)/(Viewsonic E71f)/Syncmaster 753s/BenQ V991/
BenQ G774
heard Syncmaster samsung is gud
Compro VideoMate TV PVR/FM Card
read in digit is gud though was thinking for pinnacle
Windows XP / Media Center
whats better
plz Suggest me
headphone/mic (how abt iball, altec give me the model nos.)
& Speakers not costly

Even tell me if i cud get better performance/quality at same price or if i cud reduce the price with same requirements

Scrap the 3200+
Get an Opteron 144. 1 MB cache. S939 and 1.8 ghz.
If you want 2 Ghz, get the 146.
They are around 8.5k / 9.5k respectively.

Mobo - Asus A8N-e - Rs.6000 - Very decent at OC'ing
Get a cheap 6200TC, stay away from Onboard.

RAM - 2*512 Transcend RAM with Samsung UCCC Chips.
~Rs.4000

Everything else is upto you.
Those are the key components.

I prefer XP to Media Center.
But if your gonna your your TV Tuner a lot, then get Media Center.

Headphones - Labtec, over the Head, Headphones, with Mic. Around rs.1000.
Maybe beter go for the Plantronics audio 90's. For 1300.

Speakers, since your not getting a sound card, id suggest go with a simple altec lansing 2.1 Setup.

Other components are good, just change the above 2 parts. Lol.

Motherboard : Both the motherboards below cost less than 4k. Get the one that suits you, jkm.

Biostar 6100 - M9. Good overclocking and the onboard is as good as 6200TC.

Asrock 939Dual SATA2. Get this if you are planning a separate good graphics card. Also has 8 channel onboard sound, so should be a good purchase. This is the cheaper option.

RAM : 1GB Transcend RAM with Samsung UCCC. You will need the 2GB soon with vista and upcoming games. Overclocks well too.

You can get 4.1 or 5.1 speakers if you can afford it. The onboard sound might not be great but thats no reason to skimp on speakers.

Raghu.
