Hi

Am planning to buy an used 9800 gt 1GB for Rs 3000/- (7 months old under warranty).
But when am looking at the games these days are requiring minimum 8800 gt(same as 9800 gt) am not able to decide weather to buy this card or not.

I have 1280*1024 resolution monitor. Will I be able to play NFS shift with ultra high settings with 9800 gt 1gb card?

Or I should opt for some other card?My budget is Rs 3000/- can't stretch even one more rupee. If some of you have a better card to offer in that price then am open.

Thanks

Ameet

You can get that card, its good, still there might be some better options, wait for other members:)

Thats quite a decent price. I suggest you take it as it should easily be able to play most games at Very High setting on your resolution. Ofc, that performance also depends on your processor and ram.

Also, before buying the card - Which power supplier do you have? I'm guessing that that card is a 65nm G92 chip which can guzzle a lot more power compared to its current competition (GTS250, HD5750, HD5770) and would definetly require a branded power supplier with atleast 500W.

He seems very vfm customer. But how long will 9800gt serve him? What about crysis 2? and upcoming doom & quakes type games? Will this card handles that loads then?

Its not a great vard, still OP wants to lay at 1280*1024 resolution so the card will do. Regarding Crysis 2, he will e able to play at medium/low settings. I think he can sacrifice that

Crysis 2 is running at Extreme settings here on my 8800GT on 1440*900 which is pretty much the same amount of pixels as the OPs resolution. Seeing as those games will also be made for consoles, their demand on the graphic card should be more or less what CryEngine 3 is. Inshort, future games should work at High settings atleast.

Its already a good deal. Old 8800GTs 512mb with little warranty left generally sell for 3k.

3k for a 9800GT 1GB 7 month old card is really good value, I wouldn't expect a better deal if I were u.

so am not gonna get any better deal than this huh!!

Okay am with it then,I'll buy it.

Thanks guys

Maxing out games will also depend on your CPU. Otherwise 9800GT would be a beast at 1280*1024 resolution. I currently have a 9600GT and I play most of the games on High/Ultra High settings on my 17in monitor.

tell me your PSU. Although I recall 9800GT not being a power guzzler, I'm asking incase you have those PSUs which come with the cabby(not good, mostly).

Otherwise, it's a great deal, and you should grab it before someone else does.

I have a zebronics 450 watts PSU but it didn't come with the cabby.I bought it separately with 3 years warranty which cost me around 600 bugs .I think there's nothing wrong with that.

And besides that I can't buy a premium PSU.Don't have the money.
