I am planning to buy a new 1 TB hardisk here,

I heard about Seagate Barracuda 7200.1 WITH 32 MB buffer, and then WD hard disk......

Which one will you people prefer as to me in terms of money to cost value....
My main purpouse shall be Gaming, and storing data such as Movies and Videos.....

Please help me out by listing some Models in this context....

And it shall be really helpful if in case you can post me information about any Indian site and its link, where I can get Harddisk detail, and current market rates as well..

Thanking you...:)

Thankyou..

He'll ship all over India at a low, flat rate and it's absolutely reliable, so don't worry about that...
If you prefer traditional shopping, wait untill morning/noon and ask some local members to give you shop locations :)

Go to S.p road in banglore buddy ..u get much cheaper there !!!
try in ACME Computers
EDIT: consider WD over seagate..if its for back up get WD10EADS

i just got myself the 1TB 7200.12 Seagate ST31000528AS for 5508/-

its an awesome drive!

WD Black Caviar. Hers the ebay link..

Link

With a 10% discount coupon.. it would be a good deal at Rs 6200.

I could not find any benchmarks for 7200.12 vs Black Caviar. But it outperforms 7200.11. I strongly suggest for this drive.

WD all the way. :P

Get the FALS drive if you need performance. If the drive's meant for dump, get the cheaper Caviar green. Priced at 5.1k odd IINM. :)

Thanks all you people, for your advice......

However, I am in delemma here....

Thats true, thats why I went for WD Hardisk earlier, it is working fine hassle free.......

I suppose Caviar Black has 32 MB buffer and better transfer speed,

K...... thankyou for the link, It has really helped me a lot, seagate has completely changed and moved over from their 7200.11 series,

I know that now they have completely removed the firmware issue in this new version...

The rate you are telling is really watering, but will i get the same rate in Bangalore as well....

K.K....... Finally I will ask you people...To Completely Clear My Dilemma......

Which drive...I should actually go for.....My budget is 6000/...../.....

My needs are:

1) I really need good transfer speed here,

2) Earlier I got Caviar Green 500 GB. Now though I would be keeping.IT...however, I will be moving over to the newer drive for all other purpouse,

i.e My Windows and all my Games setup and installations....

So, I need good response time here.......

ANyways thanks again all you people, specially mach9 and Gannu. Rep given to mach 9....

If you are going to use it as a system drive, forget the WD Green. Get the FALS. I am not too sure about Seagate anymore until they clear the confusion regarding their warranty policy. Some say its 3 years while others maintain that they still offer a 5 year warranty.

With WD, they still honor and maintain that their warranty policy for India lies unchanged and remains at 5 years.

Forget everything, get this - Seagate 7200.11 1TB (5year warranty) for Rs 5200 (on ebay after 500 discount)

Its the most VFM.

If ur thinking since its seagate it is going to crash? Forget about it.

My experience - 7years, 12-13 seagate drives, only one RMA.

If possible try to get model no. ST31000333AS since it has 3 platters. Model ST31000340AS has 4 platters.

And for everyone who is confused about seagate warranty.

Old 7200.11 carry 5 year warranty

New 7200.12 carry 3 year warranty (No doubt about it, any seller who says he will provide 5year on 7200.12 is just jerking you around)

But what about the firmware issue in 7200.11 model there.....

How will you justify....

However I am cool with 7200.12, CAN SOMEBODY QUOTE any good model in that series and the cost qoute...if possible...

Thankyou..

Can somebody tell about its feature....andits rate....

at 5400/- (i paid 2% more for cc payment) the 7200.12 is the best that you can get.

Warranty is for 3 years : I've confirmed it with my drive.

skip the 7200.11
