Processor: AMD AthlonII X2-240 - 2.85k

Motherboard: Biostar A785GE - 3.4k(HD 4200 is a very good IGP. Plays HD with eaze and directX 10.1 complaint)

RAM: Kingston 2GB DDR2 800MHz - 2.1k

GPU: MSI 1GB DDRIII 4670 - 4.5k

HDD: Seagate 250GB SATAII 7200.12 series- 1.9k

Cabinet: Zebronics Bijli ATX w/o SMPS - 1.1k

SMPS: Zebronics Pro 350w - 1.5k

Optical Drive: L.G. GH22NS30 SATA/Samsung SH-S22F SATA - 1.1k

Speakers: Altec Lansing 2.1 BXR1121 - 1.1k

Monitor: Dell 18.5" - E1910 IN - 6.3k~

Keyboard+Mouse:Logitech MMKB Combo - .7k

Total: 26.5-27k

AMD provides a better upgrade path when compare to Intel dual core/C2D

Considering your current config this would be a great upgrade :)

If you are on a strict budget then get the MSI 512MB DDRII 4650 GPU~3k

Pentium Dual Core E5200(3k)+Gigabyte G31ME-S2L(2.4k) - 5.4k

This is a very good dual core budget config. But the LGA775 socket is EOL. So its better to go for the AthlonII X2 240 at this stage for budget configs :)

@Karthi007

Hi.. The config you have suggested fits in well with the one i was looking for, as mentioned in my thread.

I am planning to fit it in my budget as follows:

-GPU goes

-1GB RAM in place of 2GB

-Combined Cabinet+SMPS for ~1.7k

- 2.0 Speakers instead of 2.1

-Addtnl cost of 500GB in lieu of 250GB HDD

Would you be kind enough to go through my thread, for a few queries i had regarding AMD and other issues.

Thanks.

Re: Suggestions pls!!

thanks for your response!

I thought of opting for Intel over AMD. I'm not good at h/w confgs. I heard that playing games for about 8 hrs or so may cause AMD processors to overheat. Thats why I opted for Intel. If i'm wrong pls clarify me. thanks!

What you plan to do with this system..?
I may use it for gaming on a long run, say I would play for 6 to 8 hrs at a stretch.

Use applications like photoshop, robohelp, ms-office, framemaker etc..

Online gaming like playing in facebook, zapak etc.

Listen music, movies (dvd, rarely blue ray)
