Playing Quake 3 arena On Hamachi

hi ppl,

i have a problem playing quake 3 arena (dont ask me y i still play this game. i just love it.) on himachi network.... through my TATA dialup connection (115kbps).............

well me and my friend have same connection.......... and v have created a network through himachi....... now here is the problem that v face...

when my friend host the game.... i can see it in multiplayer option in quake...
but when i connect it.......... the screen gets stuck at awaiting gamestate...screen..........my friend.... whos already in the game can see that i m connecting......... but it never connects...........:@ ....same thing happens if i create a server (try to host a game).... he has to face the same problem!!!
:huh: can someone plz explain........... is it the fault with the game, net connection, or we should still wait until it connects......... BTW we have waited for as long as 15-20 min but no luck... and i thought ppl were able to play quake 3 arena 56k dialup:S
 
hmm... cant say.. ask ur friend to make a dedicated server and then try to connect...
Check for Firewalls also..
 
ok man i m using windows built-in firewall... and quake 3 arean is not blocked..... if i tell my friend to run a dedicated server then he wont be able to play the game right???
 
he can.. if he has a decent enough computer.. tell him to run a dedicated server.. minimise it and then run quake 3 game and connect
 
Try setting "sv_strictauth 0" and "sv_pure 0".

Also you don't need Hamachi for Quake 3, you can connect simply by manually entering the host computer's IP address in the game.
 
i had problems with hamachi as well....

In AOE, i cud see my friends game, but cudnt join it.

Later I found that disabling Upnp (universal Plug n PLay) option, solves the problem...and it worked for me.

I had mtnl triband ...so i cud disable the option via my router page...

maybe the same thing might work for u...
 
sometimes u need to get the game hosted offline and the the other players connect when u come back on online while the game is hosted.
and also the hamachi ip is to be replaced in the server.cfg file

hey buddy where is that Upnp (universal Plug n PLay) option ???

i m on dialp up connection (so idont get a static ip) my ip always changes...... can u tell me step by step
