I've been using the dataone home plan 500 for a few months now..

Currently the internet is connected to my landline, and i have been thinking of getting a new number dedicated for the internet.. (reason being that the electrician in my building has not been able to sort out problem of interference on parallel phone connections.. the landline in the other rooms is rendered useless more often than not..)
now, i have also been facing regular, random disconnects from the net.. i thought it was my wireless router, but i have experienced the same problem while connecting the lappy directly to the modem (UTstarcom UT300R2U) as well.. i know it cud be cos of the SNR's and the attenuation signals and maybe the modem itself, but i dont have the time to sort all that out.. and the BSNL CC is hard to get thru'..
in any case, i have decided to get a new connection..
i dont mind paying a bit extra, but i want good seamless connectivity and good service..
should i stick with BSNL or move to another ISP like Airtel (i dont think tata indicom serves my area)
please advice guys..
I'm from chennai..

Airtel customer service is quite well as compared to BSNL, so switching to airtel would be a good thing for you but the some of the BSNL plans are too tempting to ignore the poor customer service, so it depends on which broadband plans suits your requirement if you are happy with Airtel plans than dont think further and move on.

i think their is a problem with your modem's adapter because whenever thr's an voltage fluctuation even if your modem and other devices are connected to ups it still looses the link that's why their are disconnections because modem's adapter is very sensitive to voltage fluctuation's i have faced similar issues with my modem try changing your modem adapter .
