I want to open a savings account with a bank which has Online(internet banking) facility. I already have an ICICI savings account, so i dont want ICICI now. And the bank should allow me to transfer funds online to the ICICI bank account to and fro. Any other good options? I tried HDFC bank, tried to applied several times through their online form, but havent received any response from them.

you can have a look at citibank too.. savings a/c lets you xfer between banks

IDBI is one of the banks you offer all you want at minimal cost.

They dont have too many hidden charges. Only charges Rs.15 for outgoing online transfers and no fee on incoming. Service charges are low as well.

In the end you want a bank that is no more than 15 minutes away from your home or work place. So decide accordingly. Although i have not visited my branch in more than a year :P But if you are one of those who do lots of cash deposit then bank better be near.

@DCEite - HDFC doesn't let you transfer funds electronically to A/C's for banks other than its own.
that was old news.

now after formation NEFT (national Electronic Funds Transfer) mechanism almost every bank offering online banking allows transfer to member banks.

I will recommend
HDFC
UTI
SBI

have left out ICICI as you already have account with them.

why dont you walk into the branch of nearby bank and keep an identity proof, an address proof, and two photos with you it will be a breeze.

ps edit: shakensoul beat me to it.

Are u guys sure about SBI transfering money ONLINE .. i mean does it accepts payments from ICICI account..!!??

i am not sure about that...?

Ok, so what i can make out is that, Online transfer from ICICI to HDFC is possible. And that IDBI is a good option as well. I checked out with HDFC, but they have Rs.5000 minimum balance for savings account. I have to think about that.

I think i will decide between IDBI and HDFC..

wnated to know.. that e-monies thing in hdfc. do i have to fill the form and submit it @ an hdfc bank? cant i just register online. i'm registered for the netbanking service... asking cause i couldnt find any options other then to fill the form and submitting it in a hdfc branch.

My sincere apologies to you DCEite..An honest mistake since even after having an A/C with HDFC, I didn't know that money can be transferred to non-HDFC accounts. Now that sorted, HDFC is otherwise a good option to bank with :)

And yes..Thanx to Shaky, Medpal and Sharekhan for the info..Time to call up CC and get the subscription procedure straight :hap2:
