hi i AM looking forward to buying a entry level slr or a mirrorless camera
can u guys please advice me what would be the best vfm out of these
Sony NEX 3n , Sony NEx 5r , Canon eos 1100d , canon eos 600d ; samsung nx1000 or the nikon d3200

is a mirrorless camera better than a conventional dslr ?? i do like the looks of it

Mirrorless are the way to go.. the only downside is that they won't have good phase detect af. but NEX-5R supports that (not 100% sure though) they are totally worth it. as I am also having a high end dslt but still I am buying NEX-5R because DSLT have became quite heavy and hassle to carry everywhere. whereas mirrorless provide same quality at less space.

Soo which one is better I found d Samsung nx1000 has basically the same sized sensor n 20 mp in comparison to the Sony nex 3n and nex 5r which has 16 mp also Samsung is cheaper around 20k whereas nex3n and nex 5r are 28 and 38 k respectively

MP doesnt matter, see lens options available for your camera, cost of the lenses etc. Cost of your body/ first kit is really nothing compared to what you will spend on kit in the next few years. Also ensure you have an upgrade path as well, so that you can just change the body, and the lenses can still be useful on your next dslr in a few years. most people end up with some favourite lenses, so this also becomes important.

The NEX sensors are superior ,they also have more presence in india and they also have more accessories and adapters. They both also have the advantage of using A-mount lenses via adaptor and you can still get DSLR fast AF in those lenses.

^^ Its 33k now. :)

However its not much better than most entry level cameras. The Canon kit lens doesn't resolve the 18 MP sensor so you will get softer per pixel images than a comparable 16 MP sensor with a better kit lens.

Secondly the 600D has an old sensor while the competition has moved on some time back. That said Canon has the best support in India so its a good system to get into but prices of Canon stuff seem to be increasing very often.

BTW, where do you find NEX series in India anyway, I thought they stopped launching their NEX series since the first batch. Never heard of even NEX 5N or later launched in India while the rest of the word are going gaga over the third generation already

Errrm Brendon, that's the link for the 600D and not 60D. Or where you referring to the price slash of the 600D itself? Because madhukannan was referring to 60D in the post above yours.

On a related note, I got myself a 600D with the 18-55 kit lens, the Canon nifty-fifty, a Sandisk Extreme Class 10 16 GB SD card and a Lowepro Adventura 170 bag yesterday. The bag was from Flipkart and the rest from eBay.

The latest gen of NEX cameras are available for a while now. I bought the NEX 5R in March. They did skip the 2nd gen NEX series but I guess realized the mistake. They also released all of the E-mount lenses here except the 35mm one.

@MBAID It also depends on what are you going to shoot. If your main purpose is taking action/sports pics then you'd probably be better off with a D3200 or 600D. But if super fast AF is not mandatory for you, the NEX 3n or 5R make much more sense. They are pretty small and light weight than the DSLRs and have a great sensor with very good dynamic range and low light capability for an APS-C camera.

If you are buying NEX 3n for long term then I'd suggest to get the 5R instead. The control dial and the Fn button are really really helpful.

Whoops ! Missed a zero there. :P

Why you went for 600D when 60D was available for just a little more. Its a very good camera for the price.

It was almost 10k odd more. That isn't a little. :(

Anyways, this was bought to replace the aging FZ18 I use to click some random snaps here and there without any PP. I hope it suffices.

The main reasons to go for a conventional dslr instead of a mirror-less cam is
1) if you need blazing fast focus /tracking for action or sports shots.mirrorless cams have very good fast and mostly accurate auto focus atleast in good light. What they aren't so good at is focus tracking. The latest gen nex 5R, 6 have improved focus tracking because of OSPDAF so if you take say 10 cont shots of a subject moving towards u then may 3-4 will be in focus where as prev. you will get maybe 1 in focus. Another issue is it has trouble locking focus in very dim lights.here 4/3rd cams like Olympus OMDs do much better.
2)price and availability of lenses. These days availability of lenses is not much of an issue with sony releasing most of the e mount lenses in india but e mount lenses are more expensive compared to their dslr counterparts.

The main reasons to go for a mirrorless cam like the nex 5R, fuji XE-1 :-
1) weight.much lighter than a conventional dslr. This is very important factor because if you have a heavy dslr chances are you will more often than not leave it at home.
2)Cams like the nex 5R and fuji XE-2 uses state of the art sensors and the dynamic range and low iso quality they offer is one of the best when it comes to APS C sensors. Much better than the canon dslrs.

Another important factor to consider is the jpeg rendering of each cam( unless u are willin to shoot raw).
