Hi All,
I have always been inspired by music and music systems, but never had the chance to get something real nice, I have seen and heard of these yamaha's, denon, bose, harmon kardon, jbl, and just heard about some like NAD, MArantz etc. Now I am looking for something to start with, I know with the kind of limited budget I am fixing, suggesting a good system would be a little difficult but I feel thats how the things start. So if you could suggest what is the best i can get at that price(25K INR) and where( in chennai.)

Thanks for the reply, I am not looking for a DVD player I already have one. It would just be a AV receiver and speakers subwoofer etc. As of now I can settle down with less number of speakers like 2.1 also and go for the rest later if that possible. I would atleast like to have a good receiver and a good sub.

Hmmm, well...problem is, good AVRs start around 20K ( marantz, onkyo, yamaha, denon, etc). And decent subwoofers won't come below 10K (sonodyne, whafedale).
You coould start with a nice stereo system, with a good pair of bookshelves, and a affordable but decent amp. Then, later on, you could sell the amp when you upgrade to an AVR.
For speakers, you can check out wharfedale, mission, monitor audio, etc. The Monitor Audio Bronze B2 are very well regarded. For a decent stereo amp, check out Norge or Pulz. Desi stuff, not highly polished, but very under rated. This combo should really get you grooving :D

For 35k, u can try to squeeze in a nad c320BEE and a pair of monitor audio b2 speakers. If thats too expensive, try the wharfedale diamond 9.1 instead. Buy good speaker stands later on.
 
If you are really keen on 5.1, then you could get a decent AVR for around 20K, and a pair of good entry level bookshelves under 15K. Then you could add the remaining speakers when budget permits.
 
Can you please suggest which AVR would be the best bet at that price. If you can also suggest where can i get those here in chennai india, i went to the famous audio people it seemed as if they were kind of boasting of the costly stuff they had, and not willing to selling anything entry level.
 
There's the marantz sr4600 for around 25grand which is real good. If you want something cheaper, there's always sonodyne and yamaha to consider.

so abt 40,000 u can get a very decent system....

hey Chaos you are right man, if i can get those pricess it is going to be a killer deal.. The price quoted here for a Marantz SR4600 is around Rs 32k that too after some discount

Mehergags and Chaos can you please tell me where I can get the Marantz SR4600 in Mumbai, the contact info, I have a cousin frequntly travelling to bombay, may be i can get it picked from there.

I did some research on the Home theatres in the past few days, the first and foremost thing is what all is available here in chennai.

I went to the AudioPeople, The audio people seem to be there to boast of all the costly or high end stuff they have, they don't seem to be good professionals, see i feel a good professional is one who can suggest me a solution in the kind budget I can think of.

Pro Acoustics(Sharda Motors): They have Marantz, yamaha, Boston speakers, NakaMichi, one more brand. I heard the SR4600 with Boston speakers, it sounded good.

Also I have heard denon at pro-fx, Spencer Plaza, that sounds good as well.

I heard yamaha, denon at Audio People but
Denon and Marantz sound than better to me.

I think ill have to stretch my budget by another 10-15k , just i ll have to wait for another month or so.

What do you guys suggest
Marantz SR4600 or Denon AVR 1906/1706

Or anyother brands that I can listen here in chennai..

ALso where do i get to listen Wharfedale Speakers here..

ANother thing most of the brands are selling Made in CHina stuff, is that only what we get here in india or only they are selling it.

I need to find a GOOD SOURCE here in chennai. Can anyone help me on that.

Hello,

I was also looking 2 buy a 5.1 Home Theatre within 30-35K.

I checked out Marantz SR5600 (7.1). It was pretty good.

Any recommendations on this or any other nice models ?

How is Sonodyne ?

I didnt like Yamaha or Denon much. Some ppl suggested not to go for Onkyo.
 
onkyo isn't in this race yaar - its just a lil better then the tiny winkies u get from sony/samsung/LG with a price range sub 30-35k...

onkyo isn't worth the money, But im sure there are people who totally fall for it though i never ever c'd make out why :S

expand ur budget into the range 45,000~60,000- - nothing under this shall come in the semi PRO range..
If u need to know where to get them at best prices - PM me & i shall give u the regional/national Disty's of them.

Sharda motor's can never give u marantz good prices. they will always overdo it to atleast 25% more.

Since ur in chennai - i know there is a disty in Chennai for wharfedale - shall search if u decide to see.
