Hi Guys,

With Diwali on its way and sales abound, I'm looking for a 32" HDTV with Full HD (1080p). Unfortunately, I'm looking for a budget model. :( Please suggest models and shops where available (Delhi). I am hoping this thread will help others as well.

1. Budget.
Max 25k. The closer to 20k the better

2. Viewing distance.
It's for my living room, so 8-10 feet approx.

3. Sources/inputs such as HD DTH/consoles/stand-alone media players etc.
HD-DTH, Computer HDMI out, Tablet mini-HDMI out
Hoping for atleast 2 HDMI ports

4. Preference for plasma TV/LCD TV/LED-LCD TV.
At my price, only LCD would come in. If a decent LED is possible, then christmas would have come early :)

5. Preference for brands.
A-list brands (Sony, LG, Sammy) probably won't be available for me.
Hoping I can get one in the B-List (Toshiba, Sharp, Panasonic) How is Akai? Please recommend.
Would want to stay away from the dustbin brands - Videocon, Onida, Mitashi, chinese made.

6. Willing to purchase it from the grey market?
Would consider Gaffar (I live in Delhi).
I am hoping to pay via my credit card on a Diwali 0% EMI scheme by the manufacturers; but if the offer in the grey market is very good, I won't mind putting it on the CC EMI scheme with the extra Rs 500 charge.

7. Ambient lighting conditions of the room.
Normal - tubelight / CFL, daylight

8. Any other feature you are looking for such as 3D support on the HDTV, DLNA capabilities etc.
Beggars cant be choosers :ashamed:

Models that I have looked at online already (Reviews for these would be appreciated)Akai 32P40 Flipkart

Please suggest models.

Thanks,
P

You can consider getting a TV off eBay with some discount and/or free gifts during the sale. The only downside being the no manufacturer warranty part but as long as there is DOA (dead on arrival) warranty, everything else should be fine as long as you take good care of the display.

How does Funai sound? I saw an Ad from Vijay sales (at Mumbai) for 16990/- yesterday in Mumbai Mirror. Saw the same at easyDay mall at Thane, but that was for 19990/- with a Philips or some odd brand(your choice) 5.1 HT system, guess it comes to the same price if you dont want the HT. Toshiba also has one basic model at 17000 odd. Considering the Funai is an LEd ans slimmer, I did say its preferable if you like LCDs being slim.
