Please suggest a gaming rig (within 35K preferably)

Hello everyone,

I am trying to fit a budget gaming rig for a friend in 35K.

So far i have managed to come up with the following config. (with approx prices)-

Case : NZXT Gamma- 2.1K / CM Elite430- 2.8K (if windowed side panel is reqd)

PSU : Corsair VX450- 3.5-3.7K /CX400- 2.5-2.7K (if low on funds)

GFX card : HD5770- 8.5-9K

HDD : Seagate 7200.12 1TB- 2.9-3K / 500GB- 1.9K

RAM : Corsair 4GB DDR3 1600- 4.6K

CPU : AMD X2 555BE-

MOBO : ASUS M4A87TD/USB3-

It will be connected to a 42" LCD TV via HDMI (i think adding a gaming rig to his existing home theatre setup)
Will be adding a X360 wireless controller to the setup if funds permit.

Still trying to figure out if i can fit an equivalent or better performance VFM intel config in that budget- he prefers Intel i think.

Please help me find a better performing AMD/Intel setup in the budget or at least an equivalent performer in Intel if possible.

Please do correct/provide actual prices (as bought at by someone recently)

TIA. :)

Thank you DA. :)

Really wanted to fit an i5 somehow. :p

Also prefer some ATX mobo without onboard gfx.

Any more suggestions, from anyone. :)

Here is what i thought of my 35k Gaming rig

CPU:Amd Phenom IIX4 955 BE.

Mobo:Gigabyte MA785GMT-USB3.0

Othe components same as yours.

I think going for a Quad is some what future proof.

RAM : 4 GB Kit XMS3 DDR3 1600 FSB Rs.4900 +/- 50

Graphics card : Sapphire HD5770 Rs.8500

HDD : Seagate 7200.12 1TB Rs.2800

Case : NZXT Gamma 2100 + 300(extra 120mm fan) = Rs.2400

PSU : Corsair VX450 Rs.3600

Processor : Intel Core i3-530 4MCache2.93GHz Rs.5300

MOBO : Gigabyte H55M-UD2H Rs.5800(or ASUS P7H55D-M-PRO if gigabyte's not available)

Keyboard+Mouse : Logitech Internet Pro Set Rs.650

Speakers : Altec Lansing 2.1 BXR1121 Rs.900

Optical Drive : L.G. GH22NS50/Samsung SATA DvDRW Rs.950

Total Amount : Rs.35800

^ Thanks guys.

I have dropped the X2 555 plan as the new batches mostly don't unlock i have heard.

Plus since there is no unlocking or OCing to be done, the i3 530 becomes the choice by default on the basis of preference, price, power consumption.

Now checking if i can find some good but inexpensive ATX mobo and one without onboard gfx if possible. :)

Seems like this is the final config mostly.

i3 530 - 5.2K approx

ASUS P7H55 - 5.5K approx (ATX, all solid caps; or P7H55/USB3 if he wants USB3.0 too)

2x2GB Corsair DDR3 1333Mhz/1600Mhz - 4.5K approx

HD5770 - 8.5K-9K approx

Corsair CX400/VX450

1TB 7200.12 Seagate

CM Elite 430 case (wants wndowed sidepanel)

Will add a 2TB HDD too.

May add a sound card later if need be.

(May end up doing download rig duty too)

p.s. Thanks once again to all who helped. :)

AMD PhenomII X4 945 ~ 6.6k
Gigabyte GA-880GM-UD2H ~ 4.5k (All solid caps and excellent VFM for this price)

Total: ~11.1k. This is also a very able combo if ur friend is open to AMD based ones.

@dark angel-where is Gigabyte GA-880GM-UD2H available for 4.5k?is there any other gigabyte motherboard with usb3 in the 5-7k range?what about asus?

Hey, just a pointer - it appears ATI cards do not output the display properly to HDTVs - or at least to Samsung LCDs. For instance, thexfactor had issues with the 4870 1GB + Samsung display. Udit faced similar issues with the 5870 he had before. Some other member as well had similar issues with a similar setup. It could be a problem because of ATI cards as well - I am not very sure though.
Apparently, the display does not fit the edges of the LCD leaving black bars. Thus the user is prompted to stretch it using overscan which essentially spoils the output albeit to a very less margin. Try getting a nVidia card instead. Such as the GTS 450 or increasing the budget and getting a GTX 460 768MB. :)

^ Thanks a lot Desecrator.

I had heard of this too but thought it's not such a big issue.

A few friends have used the HD5770, they found it ok for not too heavy 1080p gaming and the idle power consumption is quite low too iirc.

If budget stretches a bit, i was thinking of fitting in a GTX460 1GB actually (provided budget stretches enough to pair it with a VX550 too)

How much is the approx idle power consumption of the GTS450 and the GTX460 768MB?

x4phenom945 ,460 1gb , VX 450 like the others have suggested.

VX450 is more than sufficient and 4601gb will do well on the hdtv. The advantage of going with P55 setup is being able to SLI on it later but that would also mean getting VX550 now and i5 and that will basically add up to around 45k. I suggest going down that path only if your friend will SLI later. If he intends to spend on it now and wont have funds to pump into it again the first line is what would be most VFM.

Around 130~140W idle for both the GPUs, give or take a couple of watts. :p

Let me know what HDTV is he using. :)

No, apparently some School in remote part of India -

Students, if you have gfx card with two power socket, you will use?

At least VX550 or any equivalent/better quality PSU with 2x PCIe connector native or higher as per requirement, masterji.

So for GTX 460, VX550 is a must :p

*This was meant in humor, I hope it is taken in the same way

BTW, what kind of games does your friend intend to play?

My friend uses 460gtx zotac 1gig wit 3year old cooler master 500w extream power. . Wat u guys have to say about this its been over a month no issues so far. . Runs cool. . 3gigs of ram n q6600 running along with it...
