Hi friends,
Need your advice badly...
I am looking to purchase a laptop from US which shd have the following.

MUST have:
USB 3.0.
Gigabit Lan.
HDMI Out.
Decent gfx card to play FULL HD movies smoothly via HDMI out on LCD tvs.

Good to have
Dedicated GFX card.
7200RPM HDD (can compromise on this as I can change this later).
i5 Sandy Bridge procy..
Bluetooth.

Other things.
RAM Dual channel.
Screen size : anything between 13"5 to 15.6"
Decent battery life of atleast 3hours.

Kindly point me to some links or provide some good deals which can help me to fit this laptop within $800 - $850.
Pls add if I am missing anything....
Thanks a lot in advance...

Actually the XPS was the only model I could shortlist but I have heard that its battery life is less than 2 hours (6cell battery with brightness set to min.)
Otherwise I like the looks of XPS even if it is little heavy and bulky...

I heard that the new inspiron series also has USB 3.0. Can anyone confirm that? BTW Dell USA has discontinued XPS 14" and Vostro series models...

I dont understand why sites dont mention port details on the website :(
Everytime I like a model I have to chat with the guys online and get the port details...

After reading so much about Dell XPS I finally decided to go with Dell XPS 15.
I know no model would be perfect and each will have its pros and cons... But looking at my usage I think this configuration should suffice me for the next 3 years :)

Below is the configuartion I have ordered.

what is ICC people here keep mentioning??i think its a website to order directly from US to india??

BTW i would like to know what internet you are using??the signature pic suggests its fast.

Sorry @ narayanagame I missed your post and so did not reply.
I got this config for $950 inclusive of everything.
The same config was going for almost 62k on Dell India prior to taxes and other charges.
And I use BSNL 3G (which will sadly expire in this month :( )
@TheIndian: I will be using this laptop mostly indoors thats the reason I did not go for a 9-Cell battery now.

Overall I have got almost everything I expected from the confirguration of this laptop :)
Should get it in my hands in a couple of weeks

Thanks @teja92.

Infact just a week after I ordered this Dell launched the new design of the XPS 15Z series. It looks too good and I was impressed by the design also.

I contacted Dell support to check if I could replace my XPS with the new XPS 15Z. They agreed but the ReStocking charges and other charges went > $350 which turned me off...

^^ He he he...

No yaar... Now I have decided to keep it for myself.

Actually I was supposed to get it in my hands on June 5 but now I will have to wait till July 4. But anyways...

The wait is worth....

from which site you are ordering dude? Dell (US) .... and $950 inclusive all...does that include shipping to your address too (which is pune...right?)....?
just let me know....it seems too real to believe......!!

Hurray !!! Got my laptop early this weekend.... My friend came early from US.

congrats , gt 540m is an overclocked version of gt 525m ..it will eat more battery ..
Watched HD movies with WiFI OFF. Battery lasted for little less than 4hours. Full brightness and full volume...

I am fan of the speakers of the XPS. I ordered for the extra Creative sub-woofer add-on at the bottom of the laptop. The sound is just incredible....

Will post some pics soon in the show off thread :)
