Hello folks :)
I need to buy a PSU for the following configuration:

Processor: Phenom II x4 940 BE

Motherboard: Asus M4A78-EM/1394

Memory: 4 GB Corsair DDR2

HDD: 160 GB Seagate Barracuda

Please suggest a PSU. I'm tending towards the Corsair CX430, will this be good enough? The primary usage for this rig is dedicated 24/7 Crunching at WCG.

Thanks,

Black_Hawk

Buy Corsair CX400 its better than CX430 which has higher failure rate and lesser warranty as compared to CX400 (2yrs vs. 3 years)

will you be interested in a GX550 ? I have one for sale and wanted it locally . It has 4yrs warranty left.

@OP

CX 400 is the way to go if you wanna invest 2k+ in the psu. If the budget is 1.5kish, then you can also go for FSP Saga 350 watt. It will also be ok for your rig as long as you dont add a mid/high range gfx card in your system.

Awrite, thanks a lot for the suggestions guys. I'm going to the buy the Corsair CX400. :)

Thanks but no mate, want to buy a new one.

Go for CX400 its a good one, with 3 years warranty. I myself was in hunt for this same PSU but it was not available locally in Bangalore,so finally ordered it from It wares through ebay

GX550 is crap. Stay clear off it.

With CM only the real power and especially the silent pro m/gold is worth going for.

My vote for CX400 too!
I'm using the same PSU for 2.5 years in my rig and it has been very reliable. No fan noise and stays cool too!
:hap5:

IMO to stay a bit on the safe side, I would go with:

VX450/550

Or Seasonic 600 watts

This ensures you have ample headroom and/or don't need to change your PSU for 3-4 years even if you don't upgrade.
