Re: Please suggest an android phone

Simply Nexus S.
Water Resistant? -
Defy (unusable in water) - bigger screen and better battery
Xperia Active (usable in water) - small form factor better performance

Thanks for replying.

Please help me decide between-

Samsung Google Nexus S vs Samsung Galaxy S I9000 vs Motorola Defy

Factors-best music capabilites,future proof,warranty coverage in pune,battery life,best gpu+cpu.

I'm confused between super amoled vs slcd vs tft in terms of life, quality and sunlight.

I'm willing to overclock and mod.Can I also go in for a phone like Samsung S8530 Wave II which has Bada OS, v1.2 and later run android 2.3 since its specs are great?

If I end up buying the defy I plan to overclock til atleast 1 ghz,cm7 and 16gb will it lag, will the battery life suffer?

--- Updated Post - Automerged ---

Instead of the Samsung S8530 Wave II, Samsung Wave 1 would be better if gingerbread or cm7 can be installed.

I dont think you can do this...

Samsung Google Nexus S vs Samsung Galaxy S I9000 vs Motorola Defy

Buy Samsung Galaxy S... it has great Super AMOLED display which is better than any 16M Color LCD Display + 1GHz CPU... Defy is a bit inferior to both NEXUS S and Galaxy S so dont buy it... Nexus S is a great phone but doesn't have AMOLED Plus display. The only advantage it has over Galaxy S is that its a Google phone so whenever a new Android firmware update comes out Nexus S is the phone which gets it first...

I've got the galaxy S. I've dropped it more than 10 times. couple of times higher than waist height, few times from waist height and few more times from different heights... It hasn't scratched a bit :)
But i do have one small bit of scratch, which i deliberately made while testing the screen by scratching a cement gravel hardly(with much pressure than you might imagine) on the screen. :(
The plastic is very strong (though mine has a bit of scratches as it had fell many times).

Music Quality? - The best in business. Hands Down! Wolfson DAC WM8994 along with Voodoo Control, simply drives away any high end headphones :)

Battery Life - For me more than 14 hrs with following settings
-> not more than an hour of talk time
-> around 50 text msgs (with black background)
-> 30-45 mins of chat (with white background)
-> background data, always enabled with gtalk& ebuddy running behind.
-> 10-15 mins of browsing.
-> Brightness set to Auto (though i won't go out during daytime much, so consider it as brightness set to below average).
-> 5-10 cam clicks (i click randomly out of boredom)
-> 10-15 mins of music thru speaker
-> market apps update - 10-15mins
-> wifi on all the time except for couple of hours, in which edge will be turned on.
-> fiddling with the homescreen, appdrawer, apps etc for around one hour.
-> weather widget, no lock and battery graph running in the background (go weather).

NOTE: battery life is NOT at all flexible. It differs from person to person and based on usage scenario. If you play lot of games, battery won't last than half a day. If you do much browsing & chat (white background), again not more than half a day.

[/COLOR]my budget has gone down to 15k : ( if I find a samsung captivate/vibrant in second will they perform the same as galaxy s?

how about the dell streak?

All of them perform the same. I have used all of them and personally I like the captivate best. Its better constructions and feels good in hand...and its a good option in your budget.

As far as streak is concerned, its good, its its huge! Not really pocket friendly and looks very odd in crowd....but I guess its personal preference.

If I'm ordering from US.Is shopandship and aramex a safe option and how much will it cost? Can I only buy an unlocked samsung captivate or can I buy the at & t carrier version(since its cheaper) and unlock it here myself?

Thanks alot for all your suggestions!

Is it true that some of the early captivate models were faulty.IMEIs manufactured before November 6, 2010: 352982040855394 or lower - 5393, 5392, etc.Is this a software or hardware issue?
