Please suggest best format/container and codec for least video quality loss

hello guys, i came to know that total video converter is best for converting/encoding video. But i want to know the best container/format - video codec clubbing for getting the best quality video with good compression. Please suggest guys..

For Minimal Quality Loss Listen To What tommy_vercetti Recommended. IMO x264/AVC Using A Higher (3.1 or greater) Profile Is much Better Than XviD/DivX

Also for an Audio codec aac Is fab (Use The Nero encoder Not the Faac),A perfect Portable avatar of Ac3

use Size Wise Compression rather Than Bitrate wise
