Please suggest me a 3G Router

Guys, one of my friend recently bought a BSNL 3G USB modem. But he is facing a serious problem now.

He lives in a flat and he gets BSNL range only in his Balcony. There is no coverage elsewhere in this whole house.

He asked me what to do. I suggested him to buy a 3G Router with Wifi so that he can place his Router in the Balcony and access internet through WiFi anywhere in his flat.

I don't know much about 3G Routers as i have never used one before but what i know so far is that there are 2 types of Routers.

1) In which we have to insert the 3G USB Modem. The Modem will catch the Signal & give it to the Router. PC/Laptop can connect to the router using WiFi.

These come in range of 2.5k to 3.5k

2) Inbuilt 3G Modem+ Router in which we just insert the 3G Sim Card. The Router Catches the 3G Signals itself and transmits later using WiFi.

These come >5k

Hope I am correct about the 2 types of Routers. If not please let me know properly.

Also suggest me some good routers in both categories.

He wants the 2nd type as he is not sure if the modem which he has bought will be compatible with the Router.

I searched TE and could find reviews only of the 1st type of 3G Routers.

Please suggest me good Routers of both types.

We will be buying the Router through Ebay or any other online store as these are not yet available in our cities.

There are plenty of routers available on ebay ranging from 2.8k to 18k. Tplink is a good brand in low range.

Personally i prefer the one in which you insert the USB modem and work as those are not dependent on the internal hardware speed, but on the speed of the modem.
 
Well I am using an asus 31u(i guess) and its stable as rock, I bought it from a sales thread in TE though it was unused, and its 24/7 on since last 2 weeks, i plugged my 3g e1750 modem and its always working, and giving a great backup internet without a hiccup. The price of router from market is 3k , I got it unused but opened in 2.75k
 
I know this is OT. But just wondering if you have factored in rain, and what ever solution you have with router, dont forget to like, em, cover it?

Ever tried, Signal boosters? Not sure if they will work or not, but you can review this thread :- How to amplify BSNL 3G Signal
