CPU/Mobo Please suggest me a Processor and Motherboard

Hi wanted to help my friend in upgrading his Cabinet

so as the topic says- can plz suggest a Processor and Motherboard

Price range: <10K (including both)

Company: Gigabyte, Asus, Intel, MSI - Doesn't matter (anything good out there will do)

Will be Using for (Purpose): Lots of office tools like database...(including MS office tools), movies and casual games

I guess DDR3 Ram will fit for these MB's and default SMPS will suffice!! (will not be using GPU)

Go for-

Intel i3 2100-6.2k

GIGABYTE GA-H61M-D2H-3.5k OR Intel DH61WW-3.5k

Corsair Value Ram 4GBX1-1.2k

For casual gaming he might be better served with an AMD chip.

If getting the Intel, try looking for Pentium G620. Will be half the cost of the i3 and you can get better H67 boards instead of H61 boards.

Get a good PSU even if not getting a standalone GPU. the CX430 v2 should be 2.2 grand.

A bit more specificity will be better Jarod, instead of just suggesting an option, I will suggest the following AMD RIG, if at all --

AMD A6-3500 ~4000/-

Gigabte GA-A75-S2V ~5000/-

Corsair XMS3 OR G.Skill RIPJAWS 4GB x1 ~1600/- [add another RAM module down the line as AMD Llano chips react well to faster frequency RAM modules]

The advantages of AMD Llano processors over Intel processors are --
  • Better IGP, so smoother HD-playback and better chance of running casual games smoothly.
  • Similar power-draw at such low budget systems.
  • Compatible with faster frequency RAM and improved performance with the same.

Apart from that I agree that the Corsair CX V2 430W ~2400/- that Jarod has told.

Thanks all once again... Hey alpha17 I've suggested your config, got to check if my friend can get these in local stores else will go with any of the above models.
