Hi

Please suggest a decent SMPS (<=3k) for a Q8400 + HD4850 . Also will overheating be an issue with this combo ?

Thanks! Another question - is it safe to run the above config on Frontech 450W or Frontech 500W ???

From what I've read , max consumption should not be greater than 350W for Q8400 + 4850 .

Dont even think of it...I think Frontect 800-900W would fail against HD4850...Frontech is an elcheapo brand of SMPS...get Corsair Cx400/vx450 or Atleast Gigabyte 460W for 2.3k

Edit: Another thing to add stay away from Zebronics and CoolerMaster as well....I got Zebronics since I had no option that time in my budget and I'm still repenting tht decision....

Normal Zebronics PSU falls into the same category as Frontech. Not so the Pro series. Those are quite good.

Why stay away from CoolerMaster? There are lots of people in this forum recommending the CM Real Power series which I suppose is pretty decent and VFM.
@r.nikhil. My suggestions: get the VX450 or the CM Real Power 460 (not the extreme series though)

I thought CM RP460 was slightly cheaper than the Corsair VX450,
I got a quote of Rs3550 for the CM RP460 at Ankit Infotech, SP Road, bangalore and Rs 4000 for the Corsair VX450. This was in end Sep 2009 though.

Gigabyte superb 460W would definitely do the justice for your rig and @ 2.2k, it doesn't pinch your pocket too. If you can spend more, get corsair VX450.
