Plz Helpppppp !!!!! Installing windows on New Rig (BSOD)

hi there,

i got a new machine with msi rs-480 m/b, 160 gb sata hd, 512 ddr2 single stick ram, amd 64 bit processor 3000+ . But when i try to install windows xp on the Hd i got the following error :

thanx for all ur informative replies.
Regarding RAM module, mine is kingston 400 mhz ram. plz correct me if i said this ddr2. :D

also i have emerged that whenever i run diskpart it goes for error. i tried several reboots and painful starting up ....

Well, you could try checking your ram thru memtest. Download from here. Unzip, and burn onto a cd. ( Choose "burn image to disk" option).
Then boot from this CD, and let memtest check your ram. Post the results here.
 
utsav, install your ram into another slot and try, read the mobo manual if they have mentioned any specific slot for a singe stick.

Basically try your ram in different slots, that is what might be causing the error.
