+1. :)

Fraudulent deals need to pointed out at times but one has to be sure of facts and figures before raising fingers. :|

And there are some smart alecs who will come tom-tomming their pseudo-righteousness when actually their diapers are always full of poop. :P

Bikey ,

Sorry Yar But I Do Not Get Much Time To LOL But i Lolled At Your Comment @ 2:25 at Night And Mom Came Out Of The Room ASking ME Whats Wrong :ohyeah:

I think i have seen some serial offenders in Market.

I propose some rule be made to impose strict action against them apart from the cleaning up of reported posts.
The rule of not posting in sale threads unless genuinely interested in the sale is broken very often with very unnecessary posts many a times past some months.
Some names may come up more often.

I still see posts like- "nice deal", "All the best", etc.

By registering and posting on TE, it's taken for granted that one has read all the rules and agreed to abide by them. :)

Yes I have noticed them all too. But apart from handing out infractions mindlessly there is no other option to enforce the so called rules. Best we can do is tighten the noose, which is what needs to be done.

Just within past two days I had to click on 'Find all posts from this user' link and delete all the posts. They were all spam and all in the market section.

Most of the members have not read the rules but they learn as they go on. However when there is a huge influx of members that learning period goes for a toss.

So brace yourself for lots of infractions if your post does not contain any technical information to support the sale.

Will push a rule modification. Make an announcement. Give a cut off window of 2 days. Shoot on sight

How does it sound?

There was a time when kids used to hang out in the playground during their summer vacation- but it seem market have evolved to a playground for some generic idiots.

My vote as well!!

No rambling essay from me :P

Just a simble spammin +1 :ohyeah:

Will be making the following changes. See if they suit the purpose of the community.

It is mandatory to mention the reason for sale.

Any post which does not fall within the following category will be deleted and the user infracted.

  • Time Bump - Only the seller (or his specified representative in his absence) can bump the thread but no sooner than 24 hours since the last post
  • Price Bump - The seller (or his specified representative in his absence) can update the price with a new post
    • The sum of the number of price-bump and time-bump should not exceed one in a period of 24 hours. TE is not a reverse auction site either. So use your bump wisely.
  • Express interest - the prospect buyer must clearly express the intention to buy and can ask any relevant questions about the sale
  • Technical and Supportive - It should add value to the discussion between the seller and the prospective buyer (all suggestions and negotiations on asking price and market price must be done via PM)
  • Rule check - Sensitize the seller if he is breaking any market section rules

Users violating the market section rules will be awarded 5 infraction points for a period of 7 days. Beyond a total of 10 active points the user gets auto banned, so a consecutive violation within 7 days of last violation will lead to an auto ban.

Is the seller asking for that price? If no, then no its not supportive

Good point though, had missed it earlier. Edited the earlier post.

My vote for the implementation of the rules too.

Another trend that is now becoming common is that members are now creating new threads and asking for a price which other members will be willing to pay for a product before putting it up for sale. Should this be allowed considering the fact that TE does not allow auctions?

I feel none other than the buyer and the seller should post in a market thread. Let the genuine buyer post any crap he want provided its pertaining to the thread. If its regarding price or be it regarding a pathetic price mentioned by the seller.

Other trollabies should sincerely keep away as its should not be our motto to ruin ones sale.

Kind of an tricky part actually, some are genuine, some are not. Hard to figure it out sometimes. Yesterday i was able to close a similar thread, fellow was checking if anyone interested. If anyone got any good suggestion , let us know :)

How do you ensure genuine buyers. And for some people its their motto to ruin others sale

As minimum no of post restriction is already present in current setup, I would suggest to implement rep point( buyer should hav like 20-25 to post in thread)

system to be introduced as some newbie members just post there for fun. As newbie can always contact thru PM, crapping on thread will be reduced.

Just my 2 cents

We need to think about a rule for that purpose itself. If and only if a rule is made to ensure genuine buyers and sellers making the most out of market, most of our worries will be over regarding Market.

Narrowing down to the root cause will help not only the Seller, but also the Buyer.

just my 2 cents.
