Plz suggest a good camcorder within 15k

Am planning to get a camcorder for taking home videos. Would you please help me out.
Reqrmnts: Portability, good connectivity, high optical zoom, if possible HD resln 1080p, and which recording media is easiest for PC transfer.
Am considering those mini DVD ones, is there any disadvantage. Coz most grey markets including National Market in Bangalore are flooded with this and all the sellers in that market recommended I go with the mini DVD variant. Plz help.

thanks mate.. will look into it.... thats really helpful. Just one more question.. How about PC connectivity for transfering those video files .. Do I need a Firewire connection and recording software or we could just drag n drop the files... Will it be possible like we do for the Digicam n cellphones
