Well since Zhop started the thread regarding stricter market rules after what happened yesterday, I feel this must also be implemented ASAP.

ANY member releasing ANY PM in the open forum WITHOUT the approval of :

1. The member who sent the PM
2. Any members to whom a direct or indirect reference is made in the PM

shall be liable for disciplinary action, maybe negative reps and for a repeated offence even a Ban.

Its the only way we can protect Private Messaging, and I'm creating a poll.

Staff, please go by the public opinion in the poll and dont' come up with excuses if people are supporting it.

Note : Its a very simple rule and doesn't prohibit the release of PM's in private completely, so its flexible to say the least.
 
Hehe.. Ill help your cause by voting myself.

I do message and I dont like it to be made public. Sharing it with someone is fine but should not be posted in public.

If you have an issue talk to the parties concerned or tell us.
 
Yeah, i agree with you Anish :)

PRIVATE Messages are like Instant messaging over yahoo or msn or gtalk.. just because its on TE doesnt mean it can be made public without the sender's permission.
 
A couple months ago some dumbsh1t made my PMs public when it was intended for him, as it was about him. I didn't really mind because it made him look like an idiot when he made it public, and I guess he made everyone conscious about what an d1ck he is.

More than whether I care or not, don't police the site too much... there will be miscreants no matter what rules/policies are in place. Deal with them on a case-by-case basis and torture them with whacky titles when they screw up lol.
 
You got my vote... Lets draw a parallel... do you behave the same way when u are interacting with society at large and inside the privacy of your home? Like a politically incorrect remark you make at home do you think it'll have the same effect if you make it at a get together or a party? I think not... for that very reason wats meant to stay private should be kept private... private and public are two complete opposites... once they are mixed, all we can expect is unnecessary complications.
 
Don't bring AIDW into this, that is for pure fun and nothing else and it'll be posted only with each other's permission, if a member request us to take of a convo it'll be done asap.
 
I dont really mind my pms going public as i dont believe saying one thing on the face and saying the other thing on his/her back coz I think this is more a "community" rather than a private, secret life. I am thinking on whether I should start a poll on whether this subforum should be called "Feedback Section" or "Controversy Section" :P

I thnk the rule shd be slightly modified:

If it has got personal objectionable content then it shd need the permission of the sender and receiver else either their permission or that of any mod should do.

And one thing which we should not forget, the only thing that makes TE a league apart from the rest (forums etc) is that we are a FRIENDLY COMMUNITY and to many like a second home, so things r better off on the face for most cases.
eg: So many ppl hate me :P, nthing is kept private abt it :P
 
^ My rule already involves that. If it has no objectionable content, then the sender will not object, simple ;)

the point is, who is to decide what is objectionable and what is not.

Keep in mind, nothing stays secret in this world. I agree PM are private but dont send extremely offensive PMs and pms that contains offensive remarks about anyone. If you do then its your mistake if they go public. If you wana complain about anyone PM staff members. They wont disclose it to anyone. but yesterday's pm was extremely offensive. And i dont feel sorry that it got leaked. It was mistake on part of both parties.

But u go around calling names and that comes out, you are to be blamed equally.

P.S. Personally if anyone has problem with me i would tell them to face me directly. I am open enough to face them even if i know they dont like me. Its as simple as that. But if someone goes behind my back calling names and it reaches my ears. well then they are in for some earful ;)

u cannot make a table & say tat those content are "objectionable content".

I agree abt making changes in market rules . . . but all these PM rules are too rigid AFAIK . . smthing |||lr happend arnd 2 yrs back in a forum where i was a active member & people hated the move....and ever since . . the forum got owned with other stuff (unwanted avertisement ) & stuff . .. & potential members left .

I'm not telling tat members will be leavin this forum blaming the few changes in rules...but some rules are jsut too much.

-->C starts hatin A.

C is a newbie & neutral to B

-->C gets confused whom to trust & makes a new topic putting all the PMs in the thread.

-->C gets confused & forwards the PM to B . B gets enraged abt this & posts this in a topic.

So who is the bad person here?
 
I have to agree with RiO on this one..
Policing the site too much is gonna take the fun outta it , its better to deal on case to case basis.

Rest is upto the admins and staff to decide.
 
Its upto the person to decide whether he wants to make a PM Public or keep it under wraps.

He can decide what he wants to do.

Theres no need to prohibit PM's from going public. Its like taking away a basic human right. Imagine the government banning Free Speech? Lol...
 
imo we could leave things as they are.. dont think anyone is going to open their mouth even while sending pms after this :P

Lets just get on along with our lives and stop discussing this useless issue .
if rules were so solid and people always followed them why would there be need for mods . face it people , there will be problems . if anyone is confused , lets mods handle this .

people take their e-personalities too seriously .. whats gonna happen of this world ... i shudder .
