Cliff Bleszinski says "face-melting" graphics required for the next generation of gaming

Cliff Bleszinski (or as he's more known, CliffyB) has said what he expects from future generation of Consoles. Speaking with Gamespot at PAX East 2012 last week, he said that the next generation of games need a dramatic visual overhaul.

He was quoted by Gamespot as saying :

"Face-melting graphics, I really want our next-generation consoles to pass what I call the 'Mom Test.' So that if you were to show this console and games to your mom, she would be like, 'Wow, that clearly looks better than your last console.' And it's an essential step that needs to be taken by both Sony and Microsoft."

CliffyB also says that he hopes that future consoles have a constantly on internet connection.

"Always-connected consoles that basically require an Internet connection. So that I can just wake up in the morning and say, 'Oh a new demo has been downloaded on my hard drive, so I can check it out.' As well as considering streaming gaming from the cloud, which would be very nice."

CliffyB also talked about a feature that he expects from the future xbox.

"The other things I want to see are gesture-based controls, I think Kinect is quite cool, and I'm a big fan of using Kinect to control movies with Netflix. Maybe it will be built in [to a future generation Xbox], maybe it won't. We'll have to see what actually comes out of that."

$300 Price range planed for the Wii U

wiiu11333981610.jpg

A report has come out which states that the Wii U, which is supposed to launch later this year, will be priced at $300.

Canadian entertainment site Forget the box (http://www.forgetthe...wii-u-price.php) is saying that according to their sources "Cutting production costs to maximize profits is Nintendo's main concern with the Wii U. They are cutting costs in the Wii U's hardware to build back confidence in investors. Nintendo wants investors to view Wii U as a less risky proposition."

Their source additionally said, "Nintendo chose an economical GPU and CPU that could keep up with the performance of today's current consoles, but keep hardware costs down to maximize profits. Nintendo got a bargain price on the custom GPU and CPU that the Wii U uses. There is a bigger focus on downloadable content, applications, video content, digital distribution, and services to create a stream of revenue. Investors will be ecstatic with the news."

The original Nintendo Wii was launched at $250 and so was the Nintendo 3DS, the handheld.

EA keen to make a Need for Speed movie

nfslogo.jpg

Looking to make a succesful racing movie franchise, Electronic Arts have joined forces with John Gatins (from Real Steel) to make a movie based on the Popular gaming title, Need for Speed.

Variety magazine (http://www.variety.c...le/VR1118052577) reports that Paramount is the current studio which is looking like they'll be picking up this project from EA, but other studios including but not limited to Warner Bros, and Sony are also very keen to pick this up. Universal is the only studio which doesn't seem like doing anything with this, but that is because they already own the massively successful "Fast & Furious" series.

This past year in November, EA had released their 18th installment in the NFS series, The Run, though it is not yet known if the upcoming movie will be based on it or not.

Crysis 3 revealed via EA's Origin online store, official unveil expected on the 16th

crysis377582screen.jpg

Crysis 3 is no more a game behind the shadows. Electronic Art's Origin online store had a Crysis 3 listing up, and it had products for Xbox 360, Playstation 3, and the PC.

The product listing for Crysis 3 showed a soldier wearing a modified Nanosuit and wielding what appears to be an advanced Crossbow/bow-arrow. An EA representative has told Gamespot that they should expect more details about this game on the 16th of April. He told them, "The best kept secret in shooters just can't be contained. Stay tuned for more information on April 16."

Last month Crytek had told us all to expect a major game in April (http://asia.gamespot...t-month-6365674). A third addition (fourth if you count Warhead) will follow Crysis 2 which released last year, and a sequel is no surprise as it had been received well, selling over 3 million copies.

More than 18,500 gamers have already signed an online petition in which they are asking Namco Bandai to not use Game for Windows live (GFWL) in their PC port of Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition, or atleast pleading them to offer a Steamworks variant.

The Group's petition, which has been posted on Change.org (https://www.change.o...or-windows-live) and has more than 18,500 petitions. It says that Game for Windows live is "unpopular," "inconvenient," and "difficult to use."

"After anxiously awaiting a PC release for this fantastic game it feels like a real slap in the face hearing Dark Souls will use Games for Windows Live," reads a statement. The petition asks for the use of Steamworks also, and says that it is "easier to use, less intrusive, more reliable, and more accepted among PC gamers."

The Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition which will be released on the PC, includes everything found in the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of the 2011 role-playing game, as well as new content. A New God of War game to be reveiled on April the 19th?

godofwarivteaserscreen.jpg

Fans of the God of War series might only be a few days away from a new game announcement from the game series. The official PlayStation FaceBook page (https://www.facebook...04316802&type=1) has posted a teasing image that asks, "Will vengeance bring redemption?" and includes a date as well, of April 19.

A new God of War game, would not be very surprising considering in February, the South African game retailer, BT Games posted a product listing for God of War IV, and i had reported in my article that they have been known to be reliable in the past, and now it seems they were right, but we'd know more on the 19th.

I personally think that this could very well be a game for the Playstation Vita, as the new handheld console needs a AAA game as the 3DS currently seems to be pulling away in the console sale figures.

Rumour : GTA V to release in October?

Grand Theft Auto V is undoubtedly one of the most waited for games of this current gaming generation, and when you're the sequel to augubly the best Sandbox roaming game out there, then why not?

A Rockstar North employee's resume, if proves to be right, states that the open-world game will ship this October.

gtavheaderimgodwyercv53.jpg

Last month, video game analyst Arvind bhatia said that GTA V was likely to ship in March 2013. Lanching in the window of around March would be advantageous for Rockstar as according to Arvind it'll be far away from Winter games such as Assassin's Creed III and COD.

Rockstar has provided small glimpses at GTA V thus far via one trailer. The game will be set primarily in current-day Los Santos, a fictional town modeled onto Los Angeles. Rockstar has also reveiled that GTA V will boast the largest scope of any GTA game in the franchise to date.

GTA V in October? I don't think so, they wouldn't have such a small time period from announcement and trailer to launch.

If it releases in October, that is a big if, then it's a strategy. Cause, Max Payne 3 is also releasing in a few weeks, and i don't think so that Rockstar wants to advertise two top games together.
