Unrealistic

Well, I was wondering where I can pick up the "special" X360's in Mumbai. My uncle wants an X360 to go with his Samsung Bordeux LCD, and asked me to get the details for him.

Now I'm not sure which dealer is reliable when it comes to purchasing alternative consoles.

Any recommendations etc. as to where I can purchase it? Looking for the Core System + HD cable.

Would really appreciate any help offered.

Cheers!

If possible convince ur UNCLE for PS3..u can get it in GRAY market for 25-27k....no hardware issues with the console dude!!!

then too if u want u can go chk out ALFA for all the latest prices on console!!!

mind it even when u purchase a warranted 360 there's a fear of RLOD!!!!

Don't go for the X360 without warranty..... Going for the special X360 is too risky..... If something goes wrong with console, you wouldn't have anyone to turn to....

You'll get the cables needed for HD with the system. I don't get the cable, its like a hybrid between HDMI and Component. It'll do 1080i/1080p if the TV will support it.

And don't go for core. X360 is not worth without its hard drive. You'd want to download the demos and videos off the Xbox Live market, store music and videos etc, store new levels and official mods for games you've already bought.

Ofcourse, if you're opting for the X360, you've got only one choice if you want to be safe. Buy it with the official warranty. Do not mod your system or buy it from grey. As xXx said, X360's are prone to RLOD. So you'll be needing the warranty for repair/replacements if it craps up. And you can't mod your system, otherwise M$ will ban your console online.

Either that, or settle for a PS3 (only 60gb version available now) from grey market. It'll cost as much as an X360 Premium with warranty, They'll both offer the same value for money in time.

Well, the person concerned doesn't even have a decent net connection, so Live isn't something that he'll consider, ever.

He specifically asked for the X360, probably cause we can mod it.

Ignoring the live aspect completely, whats the best choice? Core or Premium? An HDD is pointless too cause no Live, and he'll just run the X360 as a gaming console + dvd player.

I doubt a PS3 is in the picture, again just 'cause of the Mod aspect.

As for RLOD, it's really his lookout :P

I'm just looking for a decent place to get it modded. Or buy it modded, think Alfa has it?

Well, I made a mistake getting a modded X360. I too, like him went with the "dekha jayega" attitude.

I had to pay Rs.4k to get repaired a week after I bought it, if I had the warranty, I would've gotten a replacement by the company. Just let him know this.

And if he's not using LIVE, HDD is not required unless you want to store music or videos off the PC in the hardrive to have them play on the console.

From wat i have heard is it very difficult transferring files to 360 from PC compared to PS3??? like 360 doesnt recognises most of the peripherals etc like usb sticks etc....

Yes, even my ipod and other usb devices are not detected anymore.

It recognizes my PSP and Memory Card reader as USB mass storage device. But I still haven't been able to actually transfer the music to X360's hard drive.

It can still play the files supported directly from the mass storage though, you don't need to shift it to X360's hard drive to play the files.

Maybe after the 65nm chips r out,it would be best option to buy a 360.

Abhi bhi Xbox360 lena hi best option hai,but RLOD ka sara samay khatra rahega..

And Live or PSH in India might not be sucessfull considering Indian broadband....

I haven't been playing LIVE, but I can assure your PSN is. Xbox Live currently does not accept India, but PSN does accepts Indian registrations. Only bad thing is, the PSN store hasn't opened for India yet. So, I had to register a new account to access the PSN store from where I can download HD trailers of movies and games, and game demos (and thus to download full free GT HD).

As for gaming, I don't know how they're doing it, but there is zero lag in games. Madmonkey no saw lag in Motorstorm multiplayer, and I receive absolutely zero lag in Resistence even with 32 players in the game at once (16 vs 16), the response time is the same as offline single player, all on my 256kbps.

But I'm still worried about HOME. Broadband will actually be needed here and a lot. But still, its just an interface and won't affect gameplay.

i am thinking of getting xbox's from outside, but i need to order atleast 6-7 so that i get a good price... it will be for like 16 k per head -- it will be the 20 gb version with 2 free games... anyone interested let me know...
