i have successfully connected Outlook 2007 with Gmail POP3 access but i am facing the following problems....:@ :@ :@ :@

1. Multiple copies around 4-5 mails are getting downloaded

2. Image attachments in mails does not open by default. I have set the proper option in outlook settings. so everytime i have to click on the option

3. if i have large number of mails say 50 in my inbox, only a handful say 10 or 15 mails gets downloaded.

this also used to happen when using gmail with Outlook 2003. Is it a general problem or what ? Please help if you have any sugesstion

Also can someone direct me on the following...

1. how to set up pop setting for free hotmail and yahoo accounts

2. how to retain outlook settings.... if my xp crashes or i have to change the system, i need to do the following...

a. Take all my mails to new system... that is easy by copying the outlook pst file

b. But how do i save a backup of all my contacts created by me....

c. How can i save email settings.... the problem is i will use pop for all my emails, and that means around 12-13 email created for different reasons.... so everytime i install xp, i dont want to keep setting the emails one at a time... can this effor be saved...???

I have Outlook configured with GMail as well and dont have this problem. If you have an anti-virus which integrates with Outlook try disabling that and check.

Free Yahoo cant be set up with Outlook. They've reserved that service for their premium account holders. The same seems to be now true for Hotmail (you need a MSN subscription) as well though I distinctly remember having it configured with Outlook years ago..

I suppose you can use the Windows Files and Settings wizard for this though I havent tried it.

or better try thunderbird...

I successfully setup Outlook 2007 with gmail w/o any problems whatsoever

Are you sure you have set the proper pop options on gmail.com?

See that you have set for incoming mail "from now on" and also to move the downloaded mail elsewhere.

You can setup hotmail easily... just put in ur email address with @hotmail.com and the rest is pretty easy.

As for yahoo the free one can't be set up for pop although if you want u can use this lil tool: YPOPs! :: Free POP3/SMTP access to Yahoo Mail!

There are others you could search for it.

I dont think u have to do much config.Outlook takes the settings automatically from the web once u enter the mail address(xxxx@gmail.com)

if you have problems with it , search for and download Gmail POP troubleshooter . might help you ..

Outlook , I'm sure you can export settings! just go to your accounts info and export settings .. :) . I think there is a setting in gmail to re-download the whole thing or to just download new mails from xx:xx time and date. as for your other problems , I have no clue..

I think only gmail supports free POP . for Yahoo! you've to pay or something lol.. not too sure. Hotmail hmm.. dunno
