hello

need help guys....

have bought a new Worldphone Internet Connection (512 KB/s for 1450 Rs)....it is based on static ip...

now i am facing problem in port forwarding for bittorents.....

talked to netgear cc....they said that port can't be forwarded if you are using static ip on router...
how can it be possible that ports can't be forwarded on static ip....thousand applications depend on ports.......and static ip is the choice in businesses....

i am really naive in all these networking issues...though understand the problem (that computer connected to router is using a local dynamic ip assigned by router, so port forwarding is occurring only on this local up and isn't possible on static ip on internet port).....but unable to find any solution....googled a lot...

there has to be way...please help

Netgear support was bullshitting you!

Port forwarding shouldn't be a problem at all. Which torrent client are you using?

dude even I hv the same router and I hv successfully port forwarded the ports for utorrent.

First u need to port forward the port in ur modem and then u can port forward ur router. The gateway for modem is 192.168.1.1 and for netgear router is 10.0.0.1.

Just go in the advanced tab and click on port forwarding select the port u want to forward and in server ip put the ip address of ur computer(Find it by using ipconfig in cmd)

but i don't have any modem....its a direct internet cable coming to my computer......for example if i plug this cable into ethernet port of my laptop, i just have to enter the static ip and dns provided by the ISP to run internet....

now when i am using router....i just plug this wire into router internet port.....for first time configuration, i plugged a cross over cable (cat 5 cable) in one of LAN port of router and then into my laptop's Ethernet port (removed previous static ip from this and set to automatic ip address)....then i opened 192.168.1.1 in browser and entered my static ip and dns in basic setting page on router configurration page....this makes a wireless network....then i removed all wires....and then ran this connection wirelessly using automatic ip in wireless card settings in my laptop....(have even tried using reserved ip address to run internet..for example i reserce 192.168.1.2 for my computer on the wireless network....but then if i add this ip address to wireless card ip settings, internet doesn't run.....)

i even tried forwarding ports on Port Forwarding page of router settings....but the problem is that it only allows port forwarding only for the local ip for example 192.168.1.2 provided by router to the laptop on wireless connection (i have already done this for a port 57477...but still no green sign on utorrent)....when i try to enter my static ip (for example, 172.16.202.xxx, it says "Server IP address must be a LAN IP address. "

btw, i am using utorrent...
